Where was Lost in Space filmed? Guide to ALL the Filming Locations

Posted by

Netflix's Lost in Space is a remake of the CBS classic sci-fi show from 1965. The Robinson family embarks on a mission to explore deep space, looking for a suitable planet to host life.

Due to an unexpected issue, they are forced to land in an unknown world. The fight for survival -and the adventure- has begun.

Lost in Space was filmed in the great outdoors around Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada. The second season was also filmed in Iceland.

Where was Lost in Space filmed

Several of the 10 episodes are directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent). Toby Stephens (the villain in 007 Die Another Day) leads the cast along with Molly Parker (House of Cards, Deadwood).

Many scenes of the Netflix series were filmed in sets built at Bridge Studios in Burnaby.

As you’ve come to expect, we don't abandon this post lost in the webspace - we have already updated this report with new details about season 3!

Season 1 Filming Locations

Mountain arc
Most of the extreme landscapes featured in the series don't exist or were created by casting digital magic over real locations.

The striking spike mountains, the giant stone arcs, and most of the waterfalls were made using CGI effects.

Lost in Space Season 3 locations

Season 3 locations
In the first episode of the third season, "Three Little Birds", there is a scene with Will's Robot filmed at Capilano River Regional Park.

This beautiful area located in the District of North Vancouver with forested trails and wooden bridges was also featured in the Virgin River series.

Lost in Space planet Alpha Centauri
In episode seven, "Contingencies on Contingencies", there is a scene with June and the Robot by a lake in Alpha Centauri.

This scene was filmed in a spot by the Howe Sound, probably located near Brunswick Beach in the Sea to Sky Highway scenic road that goes from West Vancouver to Whistler.

Lost in Space house
The hospital and much of the settlement in Alpha Centauri was a set built in the studios with lots of CGI.

The interior of the house also looks like a set, probably inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's 1955 Kalil House in Manchester, England, very similar to the Millard House in Pasadena featured in the Westworld series.

  3. Opening scene in s01e03 "infestation" looks ALOT like Pitt Lake. There is a "cabin"(more like a house!) On a small island just like that one on Pitt. BC is definitely unmistakeable if you live here though eh?
