Guide to ALL The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Filming Locations: The House and Madripoor

Posted by

The Marvel series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was filmed in and around Atlanta and Prague (Czech Republic). Created by Malcolm Spellman, the episodes are available exclusively on Disney Plus.

The action is set in the new world that emerged after Avengers: Endgame. The show explores the dilemmas of two supporting characters in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), who are now leads: Falcon and his relationship regarding Captain America's legacy, and the Winter Soldier feeling guilty as he tries to atone for his actions when he was part of Hydra.

Sam Wilson and James Buchanan

In contrast to Wandavision, the series is aimed at those who are already quite familiar with the events that occurred in the previous MCU movies. Anthony Mackie (Altered Carbon, Outside the Wire) plays Sam Wilson / Falcon, the wing-packed Avenger trained by the military.

Sebastian Stan (The Martian, Once Upon a Time) is James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes, formerly known as the Winter Soldier, who has done "nothing but fight" in the last 100 years. Erin Kellyman plays Karli Morgenthau, the rebel leader of the Flag Smashers.

The series was headquartered at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Georgia. The Czech Film Commission announced that Prague is doubling as Tunisia, Latvia, Turkey, Poland, Germany, and St. Petersburg in Russia.

Welcome to our (almost) spoiler-free guide to the filming locations of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. We will be updating this article with every new episode of the series:

Where was The Falcon and The Winter Soldier filmed?

The skydiving canyon
The series opens with a cool action scene that involved the "skydiving unit" made by real wingsuit pilots. There are no reports about the location of the canyon where Falcon is chasing the group of baddies. The landscape was inserted into the footage using Computer-generated imagery.

The Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta, GA, and the Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, appear in the credits of the series, so probably all the military-related facilities, aircraft, and vehicles featured in the show are based there.

According to Jovial Jay from MCU Location Scout, the sequence with the Humvees on the desert near the border with Libya was filmed in a quarry located off Dyer Rd. in Newnan, near Atlanta.

The bar in Tunisia
In the next scene, Sam and his Air Force liaison, Lieutenant Torres (played by Danny Ramirez), are sitting in a street café in Tunisia. This spot was filmed in an interior courtyard in the Malá Strana district of Prague.

Captain America museum
Sam goes back to Washington to do some moon stuff. The tribute to Captain America held at the Smithsonian National Art and Space Museum was actually filmed at the Wieland Pavilion at Atlanta's High Museum of Art.

This location has been used in many productions including Cobra Kai, Black Panther, and also doubles as the Chastain Park Memorial Hospital in The Resident series.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier city
Bucky has a nightmare remembering a mission from his troubled past as a Hydra agent.

The flashback scene was filmed in the Palác Živnostenské Banky, a gorgeous Neo-Renaissance palace located at Na Příkopě 858 in Prague.

Silver Deck Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Bucky threatens in a parking garage the New York senator whom he helped get to power as the Winter Soldier. This is the Silver Deck garage adjacent to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

The alleyway in Brooklyn where Bucky meets Mr. Nakajima while he is arguing with his neighbor is located at 215A Mitchell St SW also in Atlanta.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier House
It was easy to guess that the scenes set in Louisiana would be filmed in and around Savannah, as the Georgian coast has the type of lush vegetation similar to that of the Bayou State. The Savannah Regional Film Commission confirmed our suspicions.

Sarah Wilson's house in Delacroix was filmed in the beautiful Vernonburg neighborhood of Savannah. Vernonburg is located at a sharp curve along the coastal waterways of the Vernon River.

It reminds us a lot of John B's house with a pier featured in the Outer Banks series. Note: This is a private home. If you are visiting the community, please respect their privacy.

Wilson Family Seafood
The Wilson Family Seafood dock, where the Paul and Darlene fishing boat is kept, is located in the Moon River area at Downing Piers on the Skidaway Island near Savannah.

The bank in Delacroix
Sam and his sister Sarah (played by Adepero Oduye) try to get a loan to avoid selling their parents' old boat. The bank's offices are the Main Street Advisors Insurance at 201 Main St in Barnesville (GA). This is the same town featured in the 2018 HBO series Sharp Objects.

The Flag Smashers in Switzerland
Somewhere in Switzerland, Torres infiltrates a masked group called the Flag Smashers. The Gasel Bank was filmed at the Ministry of Culture building in Prague, also located in the historic Malá Strana neighborhood.

The presentation of the new Captain America
In the last scene of the first episode, New World Order, the White House announces that the country needs a new Captain America (now played by Wyatt Russell).

The Star-Spangled Man
In episode two, The Star-Spangled Man, the interview for Good Morning America with the new Captain America, John Walker, takes place at the Duluth High School Football Field.

Later on, Wilson and Barnes start the mission in a U.S. military hangar filmed at the Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta.

Pullman Yard in Kirkwood
We immediately recognized the neglected warehouse near Munich (Germany) because it is also featured in Boss Level and Baby Driver. The old Pullman Yard in the Kirkwood neighborhood of Atlanta is a 27-acre property that used to be a large workshop to repair railroad sleeper cars.

In 2017, this place was acquired by a company to redevelop it into a commercial and residential area. The first image of this article is a screenshot from the fight scene at the beginning of episode five, which was also filmed there.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier drehorte
The truck scene was primarily filmed in a soundstage, combining footage shot in a road in Atlanta with real trucks, replacing the background digitally with German trees.

Svatá Czech Republic
The Czech Film Commission confirmed that some filming took place in Trubin, a small village near Prague. The Czech fan website Fandíme Filmu followed the filming of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier across the country. They also reported that film crews were spotted near the picturesque fields and forests near a town called Beroun.

Trubin and Beroun are close to the location where John and Lemar pick up Sam and Bucky, who were walking down the road. Thanks to the information provided by Brandon Jenkins we know the exact spot, filmed on the road between the towns of Svatá and Trubin.

The location where Sam and Bucky exit the vehicle was filmed in Svatá (pictured).

At the end of the second episode, there is an aerial establishing shot of Berlin's Victory Column in the Tiergarten.

Super soldier house in Baltimore
MCU Location Scout reported some more filming locations in Atlanta. The house of the old super soldier Isaiah Bradley in Baltimore is located at 66 Hogue St NE in the Sweet Auburn neighborhood.

The birth home of Martin Luther King, Jr is located nearby in the same street. The police station was filmed outside the 717 Parking G4 on Williams St NW (Fairlie-Poplar District).

The scene in Bratislava (Slovakia) with Power Broker’s men and the airport in Berlin from S01E03, were recorded at the Fulton County Airport-Brown Field.

Madripoor Falcon
In episode 3, Power Broker, Baron Zemo (played by Daniel Bruehl) joins the duo to help them find the source of the super-soldiers. They travel to Madripoor, a fictional island-nation in the Indonesian archipelago, which resembles Hong Kong.

This former pirate sanctuary is associated with stories from the X-Men series. The spectacular modern structure is the Troja Bridge over the Vltava river in Prague, which opened in 2014. Madripoor’s skyline was CGI'd into the background.

Madripoor High Town
The underpass with graffiti and street art is the Krog Street Tunnel in Atlanta.

The Atlanta Magazine reported on various additional locations filmed in Georgia. The road with the car escorted by motorbikes was filmed on the Georgia State Route 400, near the Atlanta Financial Center parking lot.

Brass Monkey bar Madripoor
The Blade Runner-style street scene was filmed at State Alley in Griffin. The Brass Monkey bar interior was filmed in a warehouse at 787 Windsor St in Atlanta.

The Flag Smashers safe house in Munich was shot at 119 S Hill Street, also in Griffin. Jovial Jay reported that the jail in Berlin at the beginning of the episode probably is the Gwinnett County Jail in Lawrenceville.

Madripoor High Town
Sharon Carter's (played by Emily VanCamp) apartment in High Town is the Wimbish House in Midtown Atlanta.

The club with the artworks is the Domaine at 1150 Crescent Ave, also in Atlanta, a dance club also featured in the Netflix movie Holidate.

The container yard in Madripoor's harbor is the OFS Fitel backlot in Norcross near the Eagle Rock Studios Atlanta.

Global Repatriation Council
The GRC Resettlement Camp in Riga (Latvia) is the Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace in Prague.

The GRC (Global Repatriation Council) supply depot in Vilnius (Lithuania) is the Monastery of Saint Gabriel in the Smíchov neighborhood of Prague (Pictured). The interior of this building was also used as the Flag Smashers base in episode 4.

The final scenes of the third episode in Riga were filmed at Karoliny Světlé street near Betlémská and Pruchodní street, also in Prague.

Arabic apartment Falcon
The entrance to Zemo's dazzling apartment with stained glass windows from episode 4 is located at 23 Karoliny Světlé in Prague.

However, the Neo-Moorish style interior room was built in the studios, a controlled environment much more convenient to film a fight scene. Some elements, like the roof, were digitally added via CGI.

Sweetwater Creek State Park
The short scene with the Flag Smashers group near a river was filmed in the historic New Manchester Mill Ruins of the Sweetwater Creek State Park in Lithia Springs (GA), one of the locations where The Outlaws was filmed.

The scene in the tomb was recorded at the Olšany Cemetery, the largest graveyard in Prague.

The courtyard where Karli meets Falcon face to face is located at 729 Dlouhá, also in Prague.

The Whole World Is Watching
The street staircase in Riga is located in Thunovská street in Prague. This is one of the most picturesque roads that lead to the castle.

The café where Lemar Hoskins / Battlestar (played by Clé Bennett) and John Walker take a break is the Lucerna passage (Pictured).

Built in 1920, this intricate historical shopping gallery is situated in the heart of Prague.

Old Factory complex with machinery
The funeral ceremony of Karli's adoptive mother Donya was filmed at the Old Wastewater Treatment Plant in Bubeneč.

Built between 1901-1906 and in service until 1967, this historical industrial complex went through a major restoration process. Today, it is Prague's Eco-technical Museum.

John Walker super soldier
There is a short scene with Falcon and Bucky in the street with the Holy Cross Rotunda church, one of the oldest in Prague.

The sequence when Bucky jumps from a balcony chasing Karli was filmed at Divadelní street, adjacent to the National Theatre.

The dramatic final scene of the fourth episode The Whole World Is Watching, was filmed near the Statue of Josef Jungmann at Jungmann Square also in Prague.

Zizkov station
The warehouse in episode five, "Truth", is the Pullman Yard in the Kirkwood neighborhood in Atlanta (also featured in the second episode).

But the exterior when John Walker runs off from the previous scene, was filmed at the old Žižkov freight railway station (Praha-Žižkov (nákladové nádraží) in Prague.

Kasárna Karlín
The exterior of the building where the police arrest Flag Smashers members was filmed at the Kasárna Karlín cultural complex in Prague.

John Walker Courthouse
The senate tribunal courtroom in Washington from the fifth episode was filmed at DeKalb History Center Museum in Decatur, GA, hosted in a historic courthouse building.

Sokovia memorial
At first, we thought that the Sokovia memorial was filmed in Prague’s Letná Park, the former location of a colossal Stalin's monument.

However, as Jovial Jay pointed out, it seems to be the lake at the Flat Rock State Park in Columbus (GA), with the statue completely CGI'd into the scene.

The sequence where John visits Lemar's family at the Hoskins flower shop in Custer’s Grove (Georgia), was filmed at 202 Mill St in Barnesville.

GRC Conference Room
The park in New York where Karli meets Batroc (played by UFC champion Georges St-Pierre) was filmed in Atlanta’s Woodruff Park.

The council meeting scene to vote on the Patch Act was filmed in a conference room at the Atlanta Convention Center at 240 Peachtree St NW (pictured). The exterior in the last episode was also filmed here in the Peachtree Center.

GRC Conference Room
The long fight sequence in episode 6, "One World, One People", was filmed at the Atlantic Station area at District Ave and 17th 1/2 St.

The scene when the prisoner van explodes was filmed under the parking decks of the Georgia World Congress Center, in a tunnel located under some RR tracks.

So impressed that they brought a Swiss Ambulance with a Swiss license plate to Prague just for the details.

They also changed street names in Prague into Latvian leaving me confused about where they were :D

I don't see any references to filming in Canton, GA. I live there and know for a fact and saw filming equipment there. I also found an article stating they were filming there. Then two weeks later, the series aired.

They were filming scenes for the in-development Marvel series Hawkeye.

As someone familiar with the city of Atlanta, I would say you got the film locations on the target. I posted after each episode where I thought certain shots were filmed and your information confirmed that I was correct.

I would like to add that the scene in episode 6, where the prisoner van explodes, was filmed under the parking decks of the World Congress Center. There is a tunnel that is located under some RR tracks. It was at one time Magnolia Street before all the Congress Center development hid it. You can see it if you drive on Magnum st located behind Mercedes Benz Stadium.

You have the wrong location for the "senate tribunal room" (used in several scenes in the series) - those interior shots of the room were filmed in the old Dekalb County Courthouse in Decatur (in a ballroom on the second floor).

You can see several shots of that room in the images on google maps for the "Dekalb History Center Museum" - note that the EXTERIOR shots were all taken at the GA State Capitol (from the Washington street-side entrance) and camera angles hid the gold dome from view.

It took a while, but I managed to find and mark two filming locations used in the Czech Republic. One is near Trubín and the other near Svatá. This is for S1:E2 between 18:59 and 22:01. Timestamps are each marker. You can use road view to virtually travel the road they were on.

In Bucky's nightmare, first episode, I'm pretty sure it's not Palác České Spořitelny in Rytířská, but the abandoned Palác Živnostenské Banky (Na Příkopě 858). The stairs and decorations match more closely.

In the scene on the Madripoor's bridge (Troja bridge over the Vltava in Prague) the Madripoor skyline was indeed CGI'd into the scene. However, in the same scene, there is also a reverse angle shot where the actual night of Prague can be clearly seen dominated by the Žižkov TV tower, visible in the background.
