The Bill and Ted House and City Filming Locations

Posted by

After nearly 30 years, Face the Music is the third Bill & Ted film after Bogus Journey (1991) and the original Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989).

Returning to their roles are Alex Winter and superstar Keanu Reeves, who was filming the next chapter of John Wick and The Matrix 4: Resurrections.

The time-traveling phone booth

We had some troubled time-traveling this year with Christopher Nolan's Tenet and the final season of the German cult series Dark. However, the rocking middle-aged duo will try to save the world without so much drama, creating a hit tune that will make everybody play and sing along.

Set in San Dimas, California, Bill and Ted Face the Music was almost entirely filmed in and around New Orleans.

Here are the most relevant filming locations of the movie, including the spectacular house featured in the movie:

Where was Bill and Ted Face the Music filmed?

San Dimas in the future
The futurist 2720 San Dimas is inspired by the City of Arts and Sciences, a cultural and architectural complex designed by Santiago Calatrava in Valencia (Spain).

However, unlike the Westworld series which was filmed on location, Bill and Ted went to Valencia only thanks to the magic of green screen effects.

Inside this building called Hemisfèric, there is an IMAX cinema. The white tower with a spire on the background is the Montjuïc Communications Tower, a design from the same architect but located in the Olympic park of Barcelona.

Bill and Ted city
The family therapist Dr. Taylor Wood's office (Jillian Bell) is the Paulette And Frank Stewart Innovation Center For Educational Media in the Navarre neighborhood, New Orleans.

Saenger Theatre with Jimi Hendrix
The daughters Billie (Brigette Lundy-Paine) and Thea (Samara Weaving) go back in time to recruit Jimi Hendrix in the historical Saenger Theatre in downtown New Orleans.

Built in 1927, the theatre's interior seems much older than it really is, as it re-creates the ambiance of a 15th century Italian Renaissance courtyard.

After suffering significant water damage when Hurricane Katrina hit the city in 2005, the building was restored and reopened in 2013.

Bill and Ted house
The magnificent house where Bill and Ted seem to live in 2025 (until Dave Grohl shows up) is the same mansion used in Tom Hardy's Capone movie.

This stately home is located on the outskirts of Covington. Constructed in 2004, the 18-acre Italian villa features five bedrooms and has a market value of $7,5 million.

Bill & Ted 3 drehort
The palazzo where the troupe meets Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is the old Soule Business College building, located across the street from Gallier Hall on St. Charles Avenue (NOLA's Warehouse District).

Also according to IMDb, the fake interstate was a set built in the parking lot of a soundstage in Chalmette for the final concert scene.

  1. The main house (Bill AND Ted’s house?) in the beginning of the film is at 122 Ondine Ln in Slidell, LA. They park in the driveway of the 120 house.
