The Feel the Beat City Filming Location: Where was Feel the Beat filmed?

The Netflix comedy-drama Feel the Beat is a story of redemption about April, an ambitious young dancer.

After blowing a Broadway audition by offending the show's producer, she decides to go back to her small village in the countryside.

Sofia Carson (Descendants movie series, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists) leads the cast as April and Wolfgang Novogratz (The Half of It, The Last Summer) plays his ex-boyfriend, Nick.

Most of the film is set in the city of New York and in the tiny town of New Hope in Wisconsin.

However, Feel the Beat was entirely filmed in and around Toronto. Here is our (almost) spoiler-free filming locations report:

The movie combines establishing shots taken in the city of New York with scenes shot in downtown Toronto.

The taxi scene was shot in Old Toronto. Film crews dressed exteriors of store windows to look like the Big Apple.

April's house exteriors are located at 69 Gloucester Street (Church and Wellesley).

April's disastrous street performance, when she tries to impress the producer Welly Wong (Rex Lee) was filmed also nearby in Old Toronto, in the Adelaide courtyard.

April goes back to her hometown in Wisconsin. The small village of Millbrook in Peterborough County (Ontario), doubled as New Hope.

The scenes in the street where is located the Dance School were filmed at Millbrook's King Street.

The Home Hardware shop storefront was turned into Rudolph's Dry Tack & Hardware.

The town hall is the Royal Canadian Legion building, also located on King Street.

A dance competition scene was filmed at John English Junior Middle School in the Etobicoke district.

The Dance Dance Dance contest in Atlantic City was actually filmed in a section of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC), located near the CN Tower and the Ripley's Aquarium.

April's 'Whirly Girl' performance on Broadway was filmed in the beautiful Elgin Theatre at 189 Yonge Street.

This is a very popular filming location; The Umbrella Academy series and Guillermo del Toro's 2017 movie The Shape of Water were also filmed here.
