Posted by

Jack Ryan, the less glamorous American James Bond, is a character born out of the novels of Tom Clancy. His stories have been portrayed in 17 books and adapted five times on the big screen (The Hunt for Red October or Patriot Games).

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan was shot on location in Washington, Paris, Marrakesh, and Montreal. Season two was confirmed before premiering season one, and it was filmed in Colombia, Russia, and London. The new season 3 was also filmed in Prague, in the Czech Republic.

John Krasinski in Jack Ryan

The Amazon series focuses on the younger years of Jack when he is still working in a desk job as a CIA analyst.

John Krasinski, known as the nice guy of the American The Office comedy series, leads the cast of this action thriller. Krasinski's career is on the rise after his terror film series A Quiet Place achieved unexpected success.

Here is our (almost) spoiler-free guide to the filming locations of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan.

The establishing shots in Washington D.C. feature views filmed in and around Georgetown University and the Potomac Boat Club.

Jack Ryan Season 2 Filming Locations

Filming series Bogota
All the scenes taking place in the evil banana republic of Venezuela were shot in Colombia.

The National Capitol doubled as the Caracas Miraflores Palace, located in the heart of Bogota.

The 15th birthday celebration of the president's daughter (and the riots in the last episode) were filmed in the San Francisco Palace.

Filming Exteriors hotel La Candelaria
The exteriors of the hotel where the good and noble boys from the Pentagon are staying is the Teatro Colón, in the colorful historical neighborhood of La Candelaria.

La Penela Restaurant from episode 3 is a real eatery, located at Calle 69a with Carrera 5.

Jungle scenes Jack Ryan
Some scenes taking place on the beach or near the coast (Macuto Beach), were shot in the Corales del Rosario and San Bernardo National Park near Cartagena.

We think that the scenes in the jungle and the Orinoco river were also filmed in the north of the country, probably in the Palomino River, located east of the popular Tayrona National Park.

Moscow shooting locations
The series was also filming in several locations in Moscow. Pictured, the Exposition of the Cosmonautics and Aviation Center in the VDNH.

When we visited this pavilion in 2013 (check out our post Relics from Soviet Russia in Moscow), the place was still used as a dodgy shopping center.

For some years, many of the large spaces and high ceilings of these awesome buildings had been chopped into little cheap shops.

London filming Jack Ryan
Some locations in London include a Steak and Co restaurant near Leicester Square (episodes 4 and 5), St Pancras Railway Station, and the Tate Modern art gallery.

Jack Ryan house
The Royal Holloway is labeled as King Edward University in Egham.

At the end of episode five, there is a scene in a courtyard that is not part of the university's complex (lower picture). This scene was filmed at Bulstrode Park mansion in Gerrards Cross (Buckinghamshire).

This is the same location featured in Good Omens as The Chattering Order of St. Beryl nunnery.

  1. The metro station in the finale is the Concorde station in Laval, Quebec.

  2. The bike scene in the pilot where his boss almost hits him was filmed in Easton md

  3. It’s funny how they imply Venezuela is being destroyed by a right with dictator when the truth is the opposite, it’s being destroyed by a left wing tyrant that ran on a social justice platform. Leave it to Hollywood to turn truth upside down🤡🌎

    1. The stories are not history lessons, though they could be. Venezuela has had its share of right-wing authoritarian governments who pillaged the country's wealth. It is that history that led to the populist swing that brought in the current regime. None have well served the Venezuela people as a whole. The history of that country's politics is a sad tale of turmoil, greed, and corruption.

    2. EXACTLY,the portrayal of Venezuela as a bad actor is patently absurd. The revolt came from many years of the elite pillaging this country. These are democratically elected governments with less cheating than the Republicans will attempt in Nov.

    3. An expected comment from a lying, delerious liberal. You KNOW who criminally cheated in this election. The democrats !

    4. 63 separate courts have found that there was no evidence of cheating in the 2020 Presidential election. Trump's lawyers, who falsely pursued those claims, are now all facing disciplinary proceedings by state bar associations for their conduct. It is likely that some are likely to be disbarred.

    5. Leave it to some liberal douche to turn a TV show into some conspiracy bullshit. Just watch the show and mind your own.

  4. Not happy.
China does not control the world's tantalum supply.

  5. The London Railway station that jack departs from is Liverpool street, heading towards Chelmsford as it is platform 10. Geographically incorrect for Egham.

  6. The pannelled room in which he meets the assassin’s daughter is Middle Temple Hall, in the Temple in London EC4. The cloisters I which he catches her and has the telephone call with the assassin is also in the Temple. It’s by No. 1 Pump Court. The railway station from which Ryan catches the train to get to the University is London Liverpool Street

  7. Season 2, episode 2 appears that the harbor scene was filmed at Terminal Island, Port of Los Angeles.

  8. The courtyard scene seems to be
Bulstrode Park mansion in Gerrards Cross (Buckinghamshire).

  9. The Steak and Co restaurant in London isn’t quite in Leicester Square. It’s just off Leicester Square on Charing Cross Road.

  10. Adana, Turkey. I was stationed at Incirlik AFB in the early '60s. The street scenes depicted in the film look pretty authentic. The front gate at Incirlik? I can not say now... the reality was long ago. It was nice to see here on the screen in West Virginia so many years later.

  11. The railway station in London is Liverpool Street, they travel to Egham from here, though they should have used Waterloo.
