Where was Assassin's Creed filmed? Guide to all the Filming Locations

Posted by

Assassin's Creed was filmed in Malta, Spain, and England. The story takes place in the present day and the 15th-century Spanish city of Seville.

This ambitious adaptation has been directed by Australian Justin Kurzel, who put a special effort into shooting on location as much as possible and using practical effects instead of creating stuff on a computer.

Assassin's Creed filming locations

The movie based on the famous Ubisoft franchise is not based on any existing video game. The plot, as well as its characters, is completely original.

Callum Lynch (played by Michael Fassbender) has the ability to get into the skin of his ancestor, Aguilar de Nerja, thanks to the Animus, a technology that unlocks genetic memories.

Aguilar was a member of the mysterious Secret Order of Assassins and possessor of great skills, that can be used to fight the powerful Templar organization.

The film also stars Marion Cotillard (Dr. Sofia Rikkin), Jeremy Irons (Alan Rikkin), Ariane Labed (Maria), Charlotte Rampling (Ellen Kaye), and the Spaniards Javier Gutiérrez (Tomás de Torquemada) and Carlos Bardem (Benedicto).
