Posted by

Hallmark Channel is finishing up their New Year, New Movies programming event with a comedy that brings the gorgeous scenery of the Canadian Rockies to your screen.

Snowkissed was primarily filmed in Banff (Alberta), and Winnipeg (Manitoba). The lovely Beachwood Bed & Breakfast and hotel is one of the highlights of this romantic movie.

The cast Kate and Noah

The plot revolves around Kate, played by Jen Lilley, a journalist New Yorker who’s barely been outside the city in her whole life. Kate receives her dream assignment, requiring her to travel to Lake Louise in Canada.

Then she meets Noah (Chris McNally), the handsome owner of a bed and breakfast who wants to be a tour guide. While working together, the chemistry between them sparks. But, will Kate leave her beloved city for love with Noah?

Welcome to the best guide to the filming locations of Snowkissed that you can find:

Snowkissed town
The setting of Snowkissed is a very romantic and picturesque winter wonderland. The beautiful town of Banff in Alberta plays perfectly this role. Located within the famous Banff National Park, amidst Alberta's Rockies, Banff is a world-class destination for outdoor adventures.

Situated about 78 miles (126 km) west of Calgary, this village of fewer than 10,000 inhabitants is the largest metropolis in the entire national park.

This resort town features splendid historical architecture and museums, combined with boutique shops, nightclubs, and fancy restaurants.

Banff National Park snowed landscape
Banff is standing among breathtakingly spectacular surroundings. There are plenty of tours and activities in the area to keep you busy.

Many tourists stay in Banff during the winter as it gives easy access to the nearby ski areas of Norquay, Sunshine Village, and Lake Louise.

If you've got a car, you shouldn't miss the Lake Minnewanka Loop, a scenic drive going up the side of Cascade Mountain.

Also, the stunning Kananaskis Valley has been featured in many productions, including Cold Pursuit, Tin Star, Togo, and The Revenant just to name a few.

Snowkissed Bed and Breakfast
The cozy Pineridge Hollow restaurant near Oakbank, Manitoba, served as Noah's Beachwood Bed and Breakfast. Also, the homes of the real owner, Jan, as well as her daughter, Katrina, became the perfect backdrop for some parts of the B&B.

The Banff Public Market was also filmed here. The interior of Jan's house was transformed into Kate's home, as well as the front entrance that was used as the facade of the guest house.

Beachwood Bed and Breakfast
Snowkissed started filming on November 23, 2020, and due to the lockdown in the town, the set designers worked alongside Pineridge Hollow's crew to replicate the feeling of Banff.

A furniture showroom and gift shop next to the restaurant provided the furniture pieces and props used in the film. The Grizzly House in Banff appears just for the establishing shot.

The interior was filmed on the main floor of Pineridge Hollow, decorated with vintage art. The second floor of the eatery, serving the town’s best “Smashburger”, was used as the bedroom of the bed and breakfast.

Sulphur Mountain lookout scene
The sightseeing tour takes the group to the Banff Gondola and later on, to the lookout at Sulphur Mountain, featuring stunning views of the valley.

This spot is usually accessed via a quick ride on the Banff Gondola, although in summer and during the shoulder seasons there is a longer option to hike up under the gondola.

You start at the Cave and Basin parking lot and go all the way until the summit ridge boardwalk on Sulphur Mountain via Cosmic Ray Road.

Also, there is a scene where the couple finally rides the Banff Gondola lift, which leads to the Sky Bistro panoramic restaurant, located at 7,510-feet (2289 meters).

This high-end cuisine venue summit station serves a delicious selection of regionally sourced local Canadian ingredients.

Snowkissed Hotel
The hotel where Noah takes the Snowkissed troupe is the magnificent Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg. This is the same hotel location where A Winter Getaway was filmed.

Several scenes were recorded in the lobby and corridors of this historic luxury hotel located in the city center. The resort has a full-service spa, gym, and indoor pool.

However, it is not so expensive; you can treat yourself to staying in a double room with a private bathroom for just about US$100.

Jen Lilley and Chris McNally
Jen Lilley has appeared in many Hallmark television films. She starred in the network Movies and Mysteries holiday film, USS Christmas.

According to Feeling the Vibe Magazine, this is her eleventh Hallmark movie. She is also known for her roles in General Hospital and The Artist.

On the other hand, Canadian-born actor Chris McNally has starred in a total of five films for Hallmark, including A Winter Princess. He plays the main character in the When Calls the Heart series, and has been featured in several productions like Supernatural, Altered Carbon, or Falling Skies.

The main cast is completed by Amy Groening as Jayne, Rodrigo Beilfuss as Simon, Jay Koensgen as Fredrick, and Chelsey Mark as Jessie.

The snowy bench scene looks to have been at Wedge Pond, Kananaskis. The Beachwood Resort looks to have Mount Rundle behind it, so perhaps it is in Canmore.

Why was Ft Garry Hotel used instead of Banff Springs, a more logical location?
