Where was Firefly Lane filmed? The House & ALL the Filming Locations

Posted by

Based on Kristin Hannah's novel, the new Netflix drama is primarily set in the city of Seattle. However, apart from a few establishment shots, Firefly Lane was entirely filmed in Metro Vancouver.

Now back for the second season, Atlas of Wonders has tracked down all the key locations of the show, including Kate's awesome waterfront house.

Kate Mularkey and Tully Hart

The series follows the lives of two best friends navigating work and relationships, from the moment they meet as teenagers in the 1970s, through their time working at the local news station KPOC Tacoma in the 80s, to them as lonely women in their 40s.

Katherine Heigl plays Tully Hart, the confident host of the TV talk show The Girlfriend Hour. Sarah Chalke is Kate Mularkey, Tully's best friend and housewife going through a divorce.

Congratulations. You’ve made it to the ultimate guide to Firefly Lane’s filming locations. You’ll find the new season 2 updates below in the report.

The Houses featured in Firefly Lane

Firefly Lane location
The duo first met in 1974 in the town of Snohomish (Washington) on Firefly Lane. Young Tully and Kate's houses are actually across the street from each other on the outskirts of Langley City at 25014 80 Avenue.

Kate's family household is like a small farm with a barn where the girls from time to time climb to the roof.

Firefly Lane house
The results of our sleuthing revealed the location of the opulent adult Kate waterfront house.

Situated on West Vancouver’s Horseshoe Bay at 5240 Marine Drive, this 1.6-acre property sits on a luxury resort only minutes away from downtown Vancouver.

Built in 1941 in the Tudor style, the 7900-square feet and three-story home features five bedrooms, five baths, a self-contained nanny suite, and a three-car garage.

Kate villa
The estate includes a garden and the iconic swimming pool featured in the series.

The mansion has access to a private sandy beach with a small beach house with a kitchen. According to the real estate website Rew, "this is truly one of the finest waterfront properties in West Vancouver".

Kate's villa is on sale for $21,988,000. Not bad considering that she spent 12 years as a housewife!

Tully apartment
The gorgeous terrace of Tully's penthouse in the sky is on the top of one of the two towers of the complex called The Residences on Georgia in Vancouver.

The humble flat is located on the cusp of the financial district at 1288 West Georgia Street. Both towers were built in 1998, have 36 floors, and occupy the entire block between Bute Street and Jervis Street.

However, we reckon that the interior was filmed somewhere else, probably on a sound stage.

Tully's penthouse is actually filmed at a neighboring building to the northeast of The Residences in Georgia. You can clearly see the rooftop astroturf sitting area with the L-shaped couch and table on the west side and the shaded area in Google Maps on the southwest side of the roof (left side of the screen in the show in season 1, episode 1).

The photo above of the shopping mall in the first episode is actually inside Holt Renfrew. HR is technically part of Pacific Centre, but it's a standalone store across the street or aerial walkway from Pacific Centre. It's Canada's equivalent to Neiman Marcus - very high-end!

The Burger Planet scenes were filmed at former Dairy Queen, now D Spot Dessert Cafe at 8555 120 St Unit 1, Delta, BC.
