After six failed release dates, one of the most anticipated films of the year is finally here. The movie wrapped filming in 2018, but due to the crisis outbreak, its premiere was postponed until December 2020.

Wonder Woman 1984 was filmed in Washington, D.C., England, and Spain. The movie features many cool locations, like a disused mall transformed into the eighties Southfields Mall.

The sequel to the 2017 film from the same director, Patty Jenkins, stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, and The Mandalorian Pedro Pascal.

The story revolves around Diana trying to stop ambitious businessman Maxwell Lord from spreading chaos all over the world after having taken power of the Dreamstone, an ancient magic artifact that grants wishes.

Welcome to the internet’s ultimate guide to Wonder Woman 1984’s filming locations. Also, if you are wondering where was the first Wonder Woman movie filmed, you’ll find a wonderful article revealing all the locations by following this link here.

Wonder Woman 1984 Beach
The movie's opening sequence is a flashback to Diana's childhood on Themyscira. ComingSoon.net visited the backlot at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden (UK) while they were shooting the Amazon games.

The arena was a massive outdoor set with tall gold pillars and a waterfall. Although the crew were filming some of the Egyptian scenes near Corralejo’s Big Beaches in Fuerteventura (Canary Islands), our close inspection of the footage of the Amazons horse riding on the beach indicates that this scene cannot have been filmed there.

In fact, Atlas of Wonders was able to track down the real location: the dazzling Sotavento de Jandía beach, also in Fuerteventura.

According to the local press, the scenes on the mountain were filmed in the northwest part of the one in Tenerife, an area called Isla Baja. The movie shows the peculiar rock formation of the massif known as Macizo de Teno.

Commander Salamander
In 1984 Washington D.C., Diana saves a woman from being run over near the Siroc Restaurant in McPherson Square at 15th Street NW and I Street NW in Downtown.

The Commander Salamander was a punk store that shuttered for good in 2010. The storefront of the movie was recreated on the front of a shop located in the Wisconsin Ave and P street intersection in Georgetown.

Southfields Mall
The Landmark Mall in Alexandria (Virginia) served as the Southfields Mall.

Just like the mall in Stranger Things, the filmmakers found a defunct complex (near Washington in this case) to film the Koslov Jewelers robbery scene.

The Washingtonian reported that there are plans to turn the shopping center into a $1 billion Inova hospital campus.

Wonder Woman House
Diana Prince's apartment is located in the Watergate complex in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington, D.C.

This group of six buildings constructed in the '60s along the Potomac River became world-famous when they gave name to the Watergate scandal.

In 1972, high officials in the administration of President Richard Nixon ordered wiretaps of members of Congress who lived here.

Palace in Egypt
The palace in Cairo of the King of Crude, Emir Said Bin Abydos, is the Alcazaba of Almería, a fortified castle of Muslim origin in Spain.

The spectacular car chase action sequence was filmed at the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park in Fuerteventura (Canary Islands).

Government broadcast system base
The satellite headquarter where Barbara Minerva becomes Cheetah, Maxwell Lord a televangelist, and Diana a golden Knight of the Zodiac, was built over an image of the rough northwestern coast of La Palma in Canary Islands, Spain.

This is the same location where the Aretuza island stands in The Witcher series. According to Radio Times, the scenes in the White House were filmed in a set built at the Warner Bros studios in Leavesden.

Kristoffer Polaha Christmas market
At the end of the movie, Diana meets the "Handsome Man" amidst a crowd in a Christmas market. This is the Torrington Square in Bloomsbury, London.

In addition, some big media outlets like Lonely Planet and Denofgeek name a few more additional filming locations: the Savoy Hotel in central London, the DAR Constitution Hall near the U.S. Capitol, and the Boston Manor Park in Brentford (England), but it's not clear in which scenes they were used.

  1. What about the Black Gold Cooperative building?

  2. The metro you've id'd above is incorrect. That photo is metro center, which has a cross layout. McPherson square is just a straight line.

  3. Some of the exteriors and interiors around 55 minutes in were filmed at City Place House in Basinghall Street, London EC2.
