Where was Eurovision: The Story of Fire Saga filmed? The House Filming Location

Posted by

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga is celebrating the world's most popular international song competition with the required dose of kitsch, glam, and naif.

The release of this parody-hommage movie had to coincide with the 2020 edition, which would have taken place in Rotterdam in May 2020. After the festival was canceled, Netflix put the movie in a drawer, until now.

The Story of Fire Saga Filming Locations

The movie stars Will Ferrell (who is a big Eurovision fan) as Lars Ericksson, and Rachel McAdams as Sigrit (sometimes pronounced cigarette) Ericksdóttir.

The awesome supporting cast includes ex-007 Pierce Brosnan, Dan Stevens (Beauty and the Beast, Legion), singer Demi Lovato, Irish comedian Graham Norton, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Trapped, Lady Dynamite), and multiple cameos like Conchita Wurst and Natasia Demetriou.

This time the filming locations are no great mystery: The Story of Fire Saga was filmed in Iceland and in the United Kingdom, as stated in the movie.

But Be aware, things may not be where they seem to be, like the splendid house where the party is held. Let's check out the movie locations in order of appearance:

Húsavík town
Lars and Sigrit's hometown, Húsavík, is famous for its (pricey) whale-watching tours.

This small village, inhabited by only 2,500 souls, is located on the shores of a bay in the north of the island, 47 miles away from the second city of Iceland, Akureyri.

If you're lucky enough to visit this place, I can confirm that it is stunningly beautiful. And most importantly, the people here are absolutely lovely, even if they want to sing Ja Ja Ding Dong on loop.

The Story of Fire Saga house
Alexander Lemtov's manor where the colorful party takes place is the Knebworth House.

This stately mansion is located in Hertfordshire, 29 miles north of London. The Russian singer bedroom and all the interior rooms were also filmed here in the noble halls of the building.

The terrace with a view overlooking Edinburgh was actually recorded at Calton Hill. Some areas of the property were also featured as The Secret Garden house in the new 2020 movie.

  1. I think it's worth noting that the Edinburgh Airport scenes are actually Glasgow Airport...
