The real Laurel (Illinois) town location: Where was Let it Snow filmed?

The 2019 Netflix movie Let It Snow is an adaptation of the best-selling book by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle. The story follows three different groups of teenagers as a huge snowstorm rages its way in a Midwest town on Christmas Eve.

The movie is set in the fictional town of Laurel, Illinois, but Let It Snow was filmed in several villages in Ontario.

You may recognize the young cast composed of semi-famous stars like Kiernan Shipka (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Mitchell Hope (Descendants), Isabela Merced (Dora movies), the singer Shameik Moore, YouTuber Anna Akana or Jacob Batalon (the Spider-Man friend from Marvel movies).

This production was hosted at Pinewood Toronto Studios. Here are the most relevant filming locations of this festive romantic comedy.

The opening scene in Laurel, the small cute town where the movie takes place, was filmed in King Street in Millbrook (Cavan-Monaghan Township).

The Waffle Town was shot at the site of the former Johnny Be Good Diner at 440 Paris Road in Brantford.

Snowed church scene
Tobin's car ends up near the Union Presbyterian Church located in Georgetown, where the boys hide for a while and sing The Whole of the Moon by The Waterboys.

The new Netflix series The Stranger also features two fictional towns: Cedarfield and Harpurton.

  3. When they go into the church it's actually a totally different location, which is 188 Carlton Street in Toronto.
