The Belgrave University: Where was The Order filmed? Filming Locations Guide

Posted by

The Netflix supernatural drama The Order was filmed in and around Vancouver, British Columbia.

The plot follows Belgrave University's freshman Jack Morton, played by Jake Manley (iZombie, Hush Little Baby). Jack joins an arcane society known as the Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose.

Where is The Order filmed

Jack will soon discover a world of monsters and family secrets where werewolves and dark magic wage a war beyond the campus gates.

The second season included several pop culture references, from the 1988 Tom Hanks movie Big (The Zoltar Wishing Machine) to Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy (Abandon all thought, ye who enter here).

Welcome to Belgrave and our guide to all The Order filming locations. You'll find the new season 2 updates below in the report.

Belgrave College campus scene
The covered walkway protecting the Asiatic Head sculpture that appears in several scenes is located between the UBC School of Music and the Frederic Lasserre Building.

Some more areas from the UBC featured in the series include the Koerner Library and the Buchanan Courtyard (pictured below).

Blade and Chalice pub
The Order Blade and Chalice bar exteriors were set in the UBC Old Auditorium building.

The interiors are probably a set built in the studios (the ceiling of the bar is the same as a room from the party house of S02E07).

The Temple hall interiors and the werewolves' house also look like a set.

Townsend house
Some sections of the university were also filmed in several edifices from the old Riverview Hospital in Coquitlam.

Here is located the neglected building where Jack finds the entrance to the temple of The Order society, the haunted Belgrave Hall.

The college dormitory Townsend House is the East Lawn Building, also part of the complex.

This location has been used multiple times for filming, in productions like Riverdale, Altered Carbon, or Deadpool 2.

The Esoteric Sons of Prometheus

The ESP compound and greenhouses were filmed in the UBC Botanical Garden.

In episode four there is a short scene filmed at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in Burnaby.

The beautiful retro blue gym in the same episode is the former RCMP campus near Queen Elizabeth Park.

Many productions have used this old center as a filming location, including Lucifer, Arrow, and Resident Alien.

Completing the principal cast are Sarah Grey as Alyssa (Legends of Tomorrow, Power Rangers) and Max Martini (Pacific Rim, 13 Hours) playing Edward Coventry, the Grand Magnus of the secret cult.

Katharine Isabelle, a veteran actress in horror films like the Ginger Snaps saga or Hannibal series, is Vera Stone. Matt Frewer, the actor who portrayed Max Headroom in the 1980s, plays Jack's grandfather. Sam Trammell, one of the stars of True Blood, appears as college professor Eric Clarke.

    1. Hello Pepper. We reckon that the exteriors of the werewolves house are just a set, built somewhere in a field for filming. We'd be glad if someone can confirm or correct this.
