Based on the 1997 film centered on one of the most feared predators of the Amazon, Anaconda was primarily filmed in Queensland, Australia.

The story follows a group of friends led by wedding videographer Doug McCallister (played by Jack Black), who travel into the jungle to recreate their favorite movie from their youth.

Anaconda locations

While the cult classic creature thriller was largely filmed in the vast Amazon region of Brazil, this time the entire production was shot in Australia.
Some of the jungle scenes were filmed in the Tamborine Mountain area, a scenic hinterland near the Gold Coast, known for its rainforests, waterfalls, and panoramic views.

All the studio work, including Griff’s hospital scenes, was filmed at Village Roadshow Studios, a major film and television production complex on the Gold Coast.
Village Roadshow has been home to large-scale international productions, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Aquaman, and Thor: Ragnarok.

It is unclear whether the California diner where the group discusses the movie was also a set at the studios, but the snowy exterior is stock footage from a Main Street in Beaver, Pennsylvania.

On the way to Brazil, this establishing shot appears to feature the famous Iguazú Falls, a vast waterfall system on the border of Argentina and Brazil, located quite far from the Amazon.

Thanks to this interview with a local outlet, it was revealed that some boat scenes were filmed on the Tweed River in northern New South Wales.
Flowing from the Great Dividing Range to the Coral Sea, Tweed River is often used as a real filming location to represent subtropical riverscapes.

The Anaconda waterfall

The waterfall scenes were filmed at the spectacular Purling Brook Falls, located within Springbrook National Park.
Set among dense subtropical Gondwana Rainforests, the area is accessible via the Purling Brook Falls Circuit, a popular walking track that descends into the valley, offering multiple viewpoints.
