Inside St. Dominic’s Prep, the real school where Netflix’s Bet was filmed
Posted by Ra Moon
Set in the fictional St. Dominic's Prep, Bet was filmed primarily in Toronto, Canada.
The series stars Miku Martineau as Yumeko, a compulsive teenage gambler who transfers to an elite boarding school where gambling dictates social status.
This stylized adaptation of the Japanese manga Kakegurui was developed by Simon Barry, known for the beloved Warrior Nun series, which was unfortunately cancelled after just two seasons.

The St. Dominic's school in Bet

The St. George campus of the University of Toronto served as St. Dominic’s Prep, the school for the offspring of the ultra-rich and powerful, including dictators, crime lords, and CEOs.
The establishing shot is a CGI composition portraying the school almost as a castle surrounded by forests in a remote location, although the actual campus is in downtown Toronto.

Victoria College (nicknamed "Old Vic") is the central setting for the series, a historic building completed in 1892 that has been used as a filming location multiple times.
It just so happens that Bet was released on the same day as the Amazon series Overcompensating, set at Yates University, which was also filmed at Victoria College.

As you can see in this image, there’s no heliport on top of the school, and some buildings have been removed from the scene.

St. Dominic’s Dining Hall is actually the library of Wycliffe College, also located on the central campus of the University of Toronto.
Founded in 1877, Wycliffe College is housed in a stunning Gothic Revival building that has been featured in The Handmaid's Tale and Locke & Key series.

The library scenes were filmed at the Emmanuel College Library, part of Victoria University within the University of Toronto.
Completed in 1932, the library features high ceilings and large stone windows, reflecting the Collegiate Gothic style prevalent in early 20th-century university buildings.

Where was Bet filmed?

Let’s not forget the very first location: before traveling to St. Dominic’s, in the first episode, "Game On," Yumeko is expelled from Central High School.
This scene was filmed at Jean Augustine Secondary School in Brampton, Ontario.

The St. Dominic’s School Board Retreat in the ninth episode, "Meet the Parents," was filmed at a rustic stone and timber dwelling located in Uxbridge, a town about 40 miles (65 kilometers) northeast of Toronto.
The main house boasts 10,000 square feet, accompanied by a picturesque guest cabin and a barn that look like they belong in Montana.

Designed by Locati Architects, this expansive property combines luxury with rustic elegance.
Most of the furnishings and décor were selected during shopping trips with the designer in Colorado.
