Mockingjay Locations

Mockingjay location
The set of the District 12 remnants was built in an old textile mill in Griffin, Georgia, off Experiment Street.

The filmmakers were able to take advantage of the fact that the complex was in the process of being demolished at the time of filming.

Victor's Village
As we can see in the behind-the-scenes pictures, Victor's Village was a practical set with a touch of CGI.

Coriolanus Snow house
This time, in both Mockingjay movies, the interior of President Coriolanus Snow's palace was filmed at the elegant Château de Voisins in Saint-Hilarion, located just about 30 miles southwest of Paris.

Although it looks older, the castle was built at the beginning of the 20th century.

Underground mine set in District 13
Although the underground mine set in District 13 was built at the studios, parts of the complex, including Beetee's lab and shooting range, were filmed at the Kraftwerk Berlin complex.

This is the former heating and power station that houses the famous Tresor club.

District 8
The District 8 hospital was filmed at Martha Mills in Thomaston, GA, a textile industrial plant built in 1929.

However, the destroyed area outside is the Rüdersdorf chemical plant (Chemiewerk Coswig, Betriebsteil Rüdersdorf Rükana) in Germany, which was also featured in the Netflix hit series Dark.

Chestatee Wildlife Preserve
According to Explore Georgia, the scene where Katniss and Gale (played by Liam Hemsworth) encounter the elk while hunting in District 13 is the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve and Zoo in Dahlonega, Georgia.

New Manchester Mill Ruins
The old red brick building is the historic New Manchester Mill Ruins located at the Sweetwater Creek State Park in Lithia Springs, GA.

Located only about 15 miles from downtown Atlanta, the park also served as a backdrop for numerous productions, including The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and Cobra Kai.

Mockingjay drehorte
The spot where the group have a rest is the Bellwood Quarry at the Westside Reservoir Park in Atlanta, a location that also appeared in the first season of Stranger Things.

Mockingjay – Part 2

District 2
Both Mockingjay parts were filmed simultaneously between 2013 and 2014.

The District 2 scenes were filmed at Berlin's former Tempelhof Airport, which was closed in 2008 to be turned into a public park.

This iconic airfield played a significant role during World War II and later became famous during the Berlin Airlift of 1948-1949.

Hunger Games dam
The Capitol Dam is inspired by the J. Strom Thurmond Dam (or Clarks Hill Dam) located north of Augusta on the Savannah River.

Built between 1946 and 1954, this massive concrete structure serves as an important reservoir and hydroelectric generator facility.

The Hunger Games city
The bombed area in the Capitol was filmed at the old Krampnitz Kaserne in Fahrland, Potsdam, near Berlin.

Built in 1937, the Russians took over this large military complex in 1945 until it was abandoned in 1992.

The Hunger Games Capitol
On their way to the center of Capitol, the rebel commando passes by a circular modern building called Les Espaces d'Abraxas in the Noisy-le-Grand suburb of Paris.

This neighborhood was designed in 1978 by renowned Catalan architect Ricard Bofill, who combined a classically monumental appearance with a distinctly postmodern aesthetic.

Mockingjay Panem
The group goes underground in an action scene filmed at the Messedamm Underpass, located in the ICC complex in Berlin.

With its distinctive orange-tiled walls and pillars, most of this area constructed in 1979 is contaminated by asbestos and has been closed since 2014.

Many productions have been filmed here, including a section of the Japanese Osaka Continental Hotel in the last John Wick 4 movie.

Capitol Panem
Once back in the streets of Capitol, the space with the crazy geometric design is located in another commune of Paris, Ivry sur Seine.

The Brutalist Les Étoiles de Renaudie is a social housing project designed by Jean Renaudie between 1969 and 1975.

Today, it seems that only architecture students appreciate the sharp concrete angles of this horrible peculiar district.

The Hunger Games mansion
The mansion of President Snow (played by Donald Sutherland) exterior is, as in Catching Fire, the Swan House at the Atlanta History Center.

Completed in 1928, this magnificent historic mansion with picturesque gardens is part of the museum.

President Snow greenhouse
The greenhouse exterior was made via CGI, and the interior was a set built at the studios, as production designer Philip Messina explained in this interview.

Old Town Hall Berlin
The room in the Capitol where Haymitch (played by Woody Harrelson) read a letter is located at the Old Town Hall (Altes Stadthaus) in Berlin.
