The real Hanover Island, Maine

Hanover Island Maine
In the first episode, Harry arrives at Hanover Island in Northern Maine for a needed getaway with his partner, Sonya (Jessica Hecht).

The picturesque village of Lunenburg in Nova Scotia provided the establishing shots and most of the locations of the port town where the fourth season of The Sinner is set.

Muldoon Fish Company
The Adams and Knickle fishing company doubled as the Muldoon Fish Company buildings.

Golden Fish restaurant
The Big Red's Family Restaurant at 80 Montague Street served as the Golden Fish restaurant, run by the Lam family.

Lunenburg is famous for being a very colorful village, although the chromatic tone of the series makes it look blue and gloomy.

The Sinner drehorte
The spot on the waterfront where Harry met Sally Percy is located at the end of Bluenose Drive.

Lunenburg may be familiar to you as the town is also the filming location of Matheson in Massachusetts, where Locke and Key was filmed.

The Knot Pub
The Knot Pub is a real local bar located at 4 Dufferin Street.

According to the Nova Scotia official website, up to 70% of the original colonial buildings built between the 18th and 19th centuries in this unique village are still standing.

Hanover Island The Sinner
Hanover Island is actually an amalgam of several locations.

The scenes on the cliffs were filmed near the Thunder Cave at the Ovens Natural Park in the Riverport area, a 180-acre pristine reserve of the coastal forest also featured in Locke and Key.

Hanover Island ME
The tiny islands made up of rocky shores and forests featured in the last episodes look like Mahone Bay on the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia, between Lunenburg and Chester.

Brilliant show, such a shame USA TV Network has canceled the show as Bill Pullman is fantastic in it as a detective investigating murders.

They did a fine job of making it look like Maine, as there are very few spots in Nova Scotia that have those tiny granite Maine-like islands. I've spent many summers there and thought they mixed in some shots from the Down East coast of Maine. Great season! My favorite yet. one of the very best shows on the WWW.

As soon as I started watching Season 4, I yelled out ‘that’s Lunenburg’! Googled the location of the film and sure enough, it was. I live in New Zealand and visited there 6 years ago. I was so excited and started checking film clips against my digital photos. Such a beautiful place, it will always remain in my memory!

The best season of all. Harry and Percy ultimately have us all realize that our struggles have options.

Yes, best season yet, but I love Bill Pullman as the detective.

Hi, thanks. The Muldoon Fish Co. is not the Fisheries Museum but Adams and Knickle Ltd. (400m to the East).

Just watching series four here in the UK. Yes. Bill Pullman has been wonderful. I live in a fishing town in Devon, and a friend from Vermont (born in Maine), when visiting, said the locals here spoke with the same cadences as of her youth. Interesting. The Sinner has been a great series, deep and dark, thought-provoking and pitch-perfect.

Shame the series ended. One of the few, perhaps the only series, that investigates the workings of the human conscience.

On the whole, I would say the acting by all the protagonists was superb, starting from Bill Pullman. The relationship-shy Detective Ambrose is a character that should not disappear from our screens.

I believe that the inwardly troubled Detective Ambrose character should inaugurate a new line of detective movies!

What about the house they were staying in?
