Set in the beautiful coastal city of Laguna Beach, the Netflix dark tragicomedy Dead to Me is back for the second season with new crazy plot twists.

Two women become partners in crime when they meet in a widows therapy group after they lost their companions. The starring duo is composed by Linda Cardellini (Bloodline, Mad Men) as Judy Hale, and Christina Applegate (Friends, Anchorman) as Jen Harding. James Marsden (Westworld, Mrs. America) completes the main cast, playing the twins Steve and Ben Wood.

Dead to Me was filmed in and around Los Angeles, although very little was actually shot in Laguna Beach. We are spoiler-free and as usual, we will be updating and improving this report with new details about the filming locations of the show:

Dead to Me house
Jen's house is the key location of Dead to Me. The exteriors are located at 3847 Deervale Drive in Sherman Oaks (San Fernando Valley). The interiors and a replica of the swimming-pool garden and Judy's guest house was built in a soundstage, as Architectural Digest reported.

Town establishing shots
The show features several establishing shots of the Main Beach in Laguna Beach. The series also used footage of the iconic Lifeguard Tower on Ocean Ave and South Coast Highway, and the City Hall exteriors. The Holy Harmonies church is the historic Laguna Presbyterian Church, boasting a gorgeous Spanish Colonial Revival style. Thus, it's quite obvious that the modern church interiors were filmed somewhere else.

Dead to Me beach
The real beach from the vigil taking place in episode 7 (If Only You Knew) was filmed at Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro, Los Angeles. The beautiful Bath House appears in the background of several scenes. This historic Mediterranean-style landmark was built in 1932 and restored to its former glory in 2002. The neighborhood of San Pedro portrays the Dead to Me city on several more occasions; In episode one, You Know What You Did, Abe’s car is parked in the Whalers Walk Parking. In episode five The Price You Pay, Charlie (Sam McCarthy) drives the Mercedes in S Pacific Ave with Stephen M White Dr. Image courtesy of Netflix and Google Maps

Cindy’s Restaurant
On their way to Los Angeles National Forest in the fourth episode (Between You and Me), the girls stop at Cindy’s Restaurant. This is a real cool retro diner that looks exactly like in the series, located at 1500 Colorado Blvd in Eagle Rock. The previous night scene in the same episode, when the police officer stops them, was shot very close from there in Hartwich St (almost just around the corner from the eatery). Coretta Cafe
Michelle (Natalie Morales) is the chef of the charming The Coretta Cafe. This waterfront restaurant is actually the Malibu Farm Restaurant in Malibu Pier. This location was also featured recently in Amazon's Upload series and it's the city where the Fatal Affair house is set. Image courtesy of Netflix - Map

Point Fermin Park
The widow's grief meeting was filmed at Point Fermin Park, near the lovely historic Victorian lighthouse by Angels Gate Park in San Pedro. San Pedro also hosted several scenes set in the Perry Mason city from the new HBO period series. Image courtesy of Netflix - Map

Dead to Me drehort
We are still looking for Steve and Ben's mother's historic manor house. Can you help to improve this article about the shooting locations of Dead to Me? To complete and correct this report, any feedback, info or images that you may have are more than welcome, thank you!

  1. Widows Grief meeting shot at Pt. Fermin by the Korean Bell in San Pedro. Its noted for the covered picnic areas & wall cutout designs along the coast.
