The Tiger King location & all the zoos featured in the Netflix series: Where was Tiger King filmed?

Posted by

Truth is stranger than fiction. What else to say about the Netflix hit show Tiger King, now back for season 2? Find out where it all happened.

It all started with an investigation trying to understand what is going on with people keeping big cats in the USA, a country where there are more captive tigers than they are in the wild throughout the world.

Tiger King Map Locations

The Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness series has become a worldwide success, along with the quarantine dancing coffin memes.

In Atlas of Wonders, this is the very first time that we include a shooting location in Oklahoma in our database.

Here are all the Tiger King locations linked to a map, the real spots where the crazy story of this hit documentary takes place:

Joe Exotic Animal Park
The Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park or the GW Zoo was still open for business under new management (owned by Jeff Lowe) until August 2020.

During Joe Exotic's era, it was known as The Garold Wayne Exotic Animal Memorial Park.

Wynnewood is a very small town in Garvin County, in deep Oklahoma.

Comprising 16 acres (6.5 ha), the wildlife park was founded by Joe in 1999 in memory of his brother, who died in a car crash. Image courtesy of Netflix.

GW Zoo
Jeff Lowe was the last CEO of the G.W. Zoo, although he was planning to move it to a new location in Thackerville, also in Oklahoma.

The new animal park would be situated near the Texas border, behind the Winstar Casino.

Big Cat Rescue
Hey, All You Cool Cats and Kittens! Carole Baskin's Big Cat Rescue is located on the outskirts of Tampa, Florida.

You can virtually walk around the complex in Google Maps. Carole felt betrayed by the show's producers, suggesting (or at least exposing what everybody is thinking) that she murdered his second husband.

She published several videos commenting and refuting Netflix Tiger King on her website.

Myrtle Beach Safari
The Myrtle Beach Safari, owned by Bhagavan 'Doc' Antle in South Carolina.

Myrtle Beach is a touristy coastal town in the middle of the stretch of beach known as 'The Grand Strand'.

Located around a hundred miles north of Charleston and 140 miles east of Columbia, the city enjoys a warm, subtropical climate and abundant sunshine all year-round.

Zoological Wildlife Foundation
The Zoological Wildlife Foundation (ZWF Miami) is the organization led by Mario Scarface Tabraue, a former Cuban American drug lord who already served time in prison, paying his debt to society.

Mark McCarthy was a former employee of his. This appointment-only zoo is located near Miami in Florida.

Tim Stark Wildlife in Need
Tim Stark is definitely, because of the way he talks, one of our favorite characters in the show. Tim's Wildlife in Need is located in Charlestown, Indiana.

In April 2020, a judge declared that this controversial complex had violated the Animal Welfare Act on multiple occasions, and confirmed the decision to revoke its operating license.

Tiger King drehort
If you'd like to pay a visit to Joe Exotic or Mr. Maldonado-Passage, he's currently serving a 22-year jail sentence for the attempted murder of Carole Baskin in the Grady County Detention Center in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Jeff Lowe hot nanny
Extra bonus: Is Jeff Lowe's attractive nanny a fake nanny? Some reports suggest that Jeff hired the model Masha Diduk just to get some publicity.
