Santo Padre Filming Locations: Where is Mayans MC filmed?

Mayans MC is the long-awaited Sons of Anarchy spin-off, expanding its violent universe with the stories of the Mayans Motorcycle Club gang. The action takes place two and a half years after the events occurred at the end of the 7th season of the original series.
The FX production has an almost completely new cast, led by J. D. Pardo (The Twilight Saga, Snitch) as Ezekiel. Sarah Bolger (The Tudors, Into the Badlands) is also starring in the project, along with Michael Irby (True Detective, The Unit) and Clayton Cardenas (Snowfall, American Crime).
Both the first and the second seasons of Mayans MC were filmed in California and Mexico. Studio work took place at Santa Clarita Studios, so probably the clubhouse set, the courtyard and other interiors are located there. We try to keep spoilers to a minimum and as usual, we will be updating this report with new information about the filming locations of the second season every week:

Mayans MC is set in the fictional town of Santo Padre which was filmed in Calexico (Imperial County). Pictured, the iconic Water Tower right at the border with Mexico.

A lot of the action happening at the other side of the border was filmed in Tecate, Mexico. The city is world-famous for hosting one of the largest breweries in Mexico. The Romeo Brothers scrapyard that hosts the Mayans' Santo Padre charter is located at 1583 Fishburn Ave, near Ramona Gardens in Los Angeles. In episode one (first season), rival gangs face each other in the Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery (Pico-Union district, Los Angeles). This majestic burial ground, filled with palm trees and monumental art, dates from 1884.

In episode 3, Emily and her mother-in-law go for a short trip across the border. They get out of the car in a street located in Mexico City's Historic Center, next to Santo Domingo de Guzmán church (Leandro Valle street). Local newspaper Imperial Valley Press informed that the FX series were shooting at Yuha desert near Ocotillo, that may be the actual location for Los Olvidados rebel camp. Some more filming took place in Acton.

The Olympic Coffee Shop dinner from S1E04 is located at 12192 San Fernando Rd, Sylmar.

When EZ and Bishop go to Inland Empire in S2E02, the gas station where they meet the Southside I.T. members is the Mobil gas station on Kuehner Drive in Simi Valley. The arcade is Mountasia off Soledad Canyon in Santa Clarita. A lot of the Space Force series filming locations where shot in Santa Clarita.

DeleteIn S2 EP 2 The scene of the brothers at the Arcade inside and out playing mini golf and then the fight/shooting with the White boy bikers and all chase scenes with highway patrol etc are all filmed in Santa Clarita at the arcade is Mountasia off Soledad Canyon and the chase scenes are around that area off Soledad Canyon. A lot of Santa Clarita scenes we’re done for SOA!!!

ReplyDeleteThe opening scene of season S2E5 where the brothers are on their motorcycles riding into Santo Padre was filmed in Simi Valley. It appears to be entirely on Tapo Canyon, north of Lost Canyon Dr.
