Sharp Objects was filmed in Los Angeles, Northern California, and Georgia. The series is set in the fictional town of Wind Gap, Missouri.

The eight-episode drama revolves around Camille Preaker, a reporter who after a stay in a psychiatric hospital is sent on assignment to her hometown, to cover the violent murder of a young girl and the disappearance of another.

Where was Sharp Objects filmed

While trying to solve the mystery, Camille will have to confront the demons from her past.

This dark show is based on the book by Gillian Flynn, the author of Gone Girl. Directed by Jean-Marc Vallée (Big Little Lies), the production is starring Amy Adams (Arrival, Enchanted), and features great cinematography and a brilliant soundtrack.

Camille’s mother's magnificent Victorian-style farmhouse is a property off East Road in Redwood Valley (Mendocino County, CA).

It was built in 1997 and comprises a massive state of 1,745 acres, including a working ranch.

  4. Don't believe Southern Railway served Missouri. After all, "Southern serves the South". When the scenery folks were repainting the caboose they should have changed the railway name to one that served Missouri.

    1. Agreed! Also I lived in Mo (Northeast MO) and at first watch of the show I could tell it was not filmed in Mo. The timber was all wrong and too many hills! Mo is flat!
