Where is Fargo filmed? The Series Filming Locations Guide

One of the most brilliant black comedy dramas is back on its fourth installment. This completely new true crime with fresh characters is set in 1950s Kansas City.
The series is loosely based on the 1996 Coen brothers' movie of the same name. The first season was taking place in 2006 and starred Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman. The second one was set in 1979 and the cast was led by Kirsten Dunst and Patrick Wilson.

Ewan McGregor and Carrie Coon were the stars of the third season, written by Noah Hawley (the man in charge of FX's Legion, our favorite Marvel product of all time).
The first three Fargo seasons were filmed in Calgary and Southern Alberta, Canada. Some of the interior sets were built in the Calgary Film Centre. Click here to go directly to the season 3 filming locations.

The Joplin's department store where the gangster mobs meet seal their peculiar deal is located at 113 E Washington St in Momence (Kankakee County).

Ethelrida (E'myri Crutchfield) family house and Oraetta Mayflower's apartment (Jessie Buckley) are located in W Lunt Ave in Rogers Park, Chicago.

One of the first scenes of the new season was shot near the Norwood Park Elementary School in Mulberry Point Park (Chicago).

The Wincke Savings and Loan bank, where Loy Cannon (Chris Rock) and Doctor Senator (Glynn Turman) come up with the billion-dollar credit card idea, is the Bridgeview Bank Uptown.
Erected in 1924, this is the former Sheridan Trust and Savings Bank Building. Located at Broadway and Lawrence, the interior features a magnificent ornate hall (pictured below).

Season 3 Filming Locations

Season 3 was set in the towns of St. Cloud and Eden Valley (Minnesota), in December 2010.
The Delightful Cafe in Inglewood (Alberta) was provided with a sign that reads DIE when N and R don't light up.

The Clarion Hotel was featured in several episodes, both for interior and exterior scenes.
The restaurant and pub Swans of Inglewood also was used for filming.

Across the street is the building where the flat of Gloria is located. A few more locations in the Inglewood and Marda Loop areas were used as exteriors.

The location managers found a decaying mansion near Indus, the Bow Vista Ranch, that was restored for filming.
The house featured in the Black Summer series was also filmed here.
The Stussy Lots Office is located in Downtown Calgary, at 505 2 Street SW.

The streets of the tiny village of Beiseker doubled as Eden Valley. Pictured, the Red Owl store at 232 6 Street.
Also, some scenes were recorded at the CL Western Town and Backlot (the CL Ranch), a movie set located in Bragg Creek.
