Posted by

The Sterling Point series was filmed on location in the same scenic Lake Muskoka region of Ontario where the story is set.

Ella Rubin and Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie

The story revolves around 17-year-old Annie (played by Ella Rubin), whose life is upended when she inherits a mysterious island in Canada from her estranged grandfather.

Here is our spoiler-free guide to all the filming locations of Sterling Point. You'll find the locations in order of their first appearance.

The series opens with some establishing shots of New York, where Annie lives with her twin brother, Connor (Keen Ruffalo, son of actor Mark “The Hulk” Ruffalo), and their father, Steven (Jay Duplass).

Most of these scenes were filmed in Toronto. The showrunners used stock footage for the exteriors, including this shot, pictured, taken in the Brooklyn Bridge Park area.

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport
Already in Canada, Annie meets Ellis (played by Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie) at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, with the city's skyline in the background.

The facility combines a land airport with a water aerodrome, with charter floatplane operations departing from the Toronto Inner Harbour.

Sterling Point Lake Muskoka
Normally, we're used to seeing these productions filmed in a different location from where they are set, as with Outer Banks and Virgin River, or in a fictional location, as with The Summer I Turned Pretty and My Life with the Walter Boys.

However, Sterling Point is one of the few exceptions, as it was actually filmed in the same area where the story is set: the beautiful Lake Muskoka region.

Lake Muskoka is a popular cottage-country destination and a hub for recreational boating and floatplane operations.

Port Carling Town Dock
Throughout the series, stock footage frequently showcases several Port Carling landmarks around central Maple Street, including Duke Boats, Muskoka Emporium, and the painted wall.

Port Carling is a picturesque village and a gateway to the Muskoka Lakes, connecting Lake Muskoka with Lake Rosseau and Lake Joseph via the Indian River.

Sterling Point Marina
Sterling Point Marina, where much of the action takes place, is actually Mortimer’s Marina in Port Carling.

Its waterfront is framed by a small wooden footbridge connecting the marina to nearby Norman Island.

Little Gem Sterling Point
The Little Gem Market and Café was not filmed in Port Carling, but at the Copper Kettle Pub in Glen Williams.

Occupying a restored 1852 general store, the spot blends old-world character, cozy fireplaces, locally sourced food, and a laid-back village-pub atmosphere.

Algonquin Outfitters
In the same location, the Glen Williams Glass workshop appears in the background of several scenes, standing in for the Algonquin Outfitters store.

Sterling Point house
Rory’s family mansion is a 3,500-square-foot boathouse on Sandy Bay on Lake Muskoka.

However, the property is not as large as it appears in the series. The upper section, with its modern, floor-to-ceiling windows, was digitally added to the image, following the design of some of the real houses located behind it.

Muskoka Canada
What about the cozy sauna with the round window by the lake? It is also a digitally generated image, recycled from a shot of a cabin (pictured below) that had already appeared in the first episode.

Fawn Lake Camp
The Fawn Lake Camp that appears in the sixth episode is actually Sparrow Lake Camp, a secluded lakeside retreat on the shores of Severn.

Nestled in a wooded setting just south of the main Muskoka Lakes area, the camp captures a quintessential Canadian summer atmosphere.

Barrie Ontario waterfront
An aerial view of Barrie’s waterfront and downtown skyline along Kempenfelt Bay opens the scene with the lawyer in the seventh episode.
