The Death Valley castle

The Raglan Castle in Monmouthshire, south-east Wales, served as the fictional Caerfedw Castle in the first episode.
Built mainly in the 15th century for the Herbert family, it was one of the last true fortified castles to be built in Britain.
Following its decline after the 17th-century English Civil War, today it is a well-preserved ruin open to visitors.

The establishing shot of the town where John lives is a view of Llandeilo, a small historic village in Carmarthenshire, South Wales.
The picturesque image shows Llandeilo’s single-arch bridge, built in the 1840s, and a row of colourful houses crowned by St Teilo’s Church.
