Where was Pluribus filmed? The house and all the locations in Albuquerque

Posted by

Created by Vince Gilligan, Pluribus was filmed priamrily in New Mexico and Spain.

Gilligan, the mind behind Breaking Bad, chose to continue working with his crew in Albuquerque, the series’ primary filming location.

Carol Sturka and Zosia

The show stars Rhea Seehorn as Carol Sturka, a romance novelist who finds herself immune to a global outbreak that renders humanity an eternally cheerful hive‑mind.

Here is our spoiler-free guide to all the filming locations of Pluribus, listed in the order in which they first appear on screen.

The Pluribus locations

Pluribus location
The pilot, "We Is Us", opens at NRAO Very Large Array, one of the world’s most advanced radio astronomy observatories, located on the plains of San Agustín in New Mexico.

Also featured in Contact, the complex is made up of 27 giant dish antennas that operate together as a single massive telescope.

It may sound like someone just called it the “Very Large Array” because it’s… very large, but radio astronomers often use simple, descriptive names for major instruments. In science, the goal is clarity!

Silver Jack Saloon bar
The Silver Jack Saloon scenes were filmed at The Butcher in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, a restaurant located in this northern area of the city, known for its farms, wineries, and boutique dining.

The Pluribus house

Pluribus house
To avoid the issues he faced in earlier shows, where real neighbours were sometimes harassed by fans, and to gain full creative control over the location, Vince Gilligan chose to build the entire cul-de-sac where Carol and Helen live from scratch, including all the houses.

The massive set was constructed on the edge of northwest Albuquerque, near a quiet residential area known as Vista Vieja.

Pirate Lady
The opening scene of the second episode, "Pirate Lady," set in Tangier, Morocco, was actually filmed in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canary Islands.

The apartment buildings shown in this scene were digitally altered via CGI to appear run-down, but they are in good condition in real life.

La Laja Beach
Zosia (played by Karolina Wydra) drives through the city toward the airport.

This sequence, pictured, was filmed at the La Laja Beach overpass, located on the outskirts of Las Palmas.

The plane actually takes off from Belen Regional Airport, a small town south of Albuquerque.

Oviedo Congress and Exhibitions Center
However, the interior was filmed at the Oviedo Congress and Exhibitions Center in Asturias, designed by the same architect.

Often nicknamed “La Almeja” (“The Clam” in Spanish), this futuristic center has been surrounded by controversy due to its enormous scale, high costs, and ongoing maintenance issues.

Pluribus Hotel Iturregi
The summit takes place at the Hotel Iturregi, a boutique 4‑star rural lodge located in the village of Getaria on the Basque coast.

Housed in a restored farmhouse, the hotel offers panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards and the Cantabrian Sea.

With only eight rooms and suites, rates typically start around €200 per night for double rooms in the low season.

Pluribus supermarket
The Sprouts Farmers Market in the third episode, "Grenade", is an actual grocery chain. The production used the Four Hills branch in Albuquerque.

There are around 20–30 functioning ice hotels around the world, but the one featured in this episode was probably built at the studios.

It's not clear, but Manousos' self-storage facility in Paraguay in the fourth episode, "Please, Carol", appears to be the Chamisa Self Storage in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque.

Episode 4: Vince mentioned on the official podcast that the opening exteriors were filmed at a real storage facility that led onto ABQ's 4th Street, near Vernon's Speakeasy from Episode 1. Had a look around, and I think this is the spot where Manousos is at the gate:

The white wall on the right adds up as well as the garage in the far background. VFX or a set to cover up the houses on the left? Can't be entirely sure, though, but just my guess.

Forgot to add to my previous post, but the storage units being opened were most likely filmed at the Chamisa Self Storage lot on 4th Street.
