The Coopers Chase house

Englefield House, a historic Elizabethan manor in Berkshire, served as the Coopers Chase retirement home.
The manor provided the grand estate setting for the retirement village, in keeping with the book's description of a stately home situated below a church and cemetery.

According to production designer James Merifield, the elegant Jigsaw Room, where Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim, and Ron meet, was built next to Englefield House.
The house’s common areas, including the dining room, were filmed here, but all the private rooms were sets at Shepperton Studios.
Coopers Chase was inspired by a real-life retirement village, St George’s Park, in Burgess Hill, West Sussex.

St Mark's Church is also located next to the estate, but the graveyard was a set constructed on location.
Englefield House is a private estate and is not usually open to the public, but it is available for hire as a venue or film location.
