Where was The Kitchen filmed? Guide to all the locations in London and Paris

Posted by

Featuring interesting (and ugly) filming locations, The Kitchen was filmed primarily in London, but also in Paris.

In this dystopian drama set in the year 2044, the gloomy architecture of both the rich and the poor plays a key role in the story.

Kane Robinson and Jedaiah Bannerman

The Kitchen is a rundown temporary housing area where a strong community lives and survives the riot police storming a brutalist labyrinth of concrete flats.

British rapper and actor Kane Robinson (also known by his stage name 'Kano') stars as Izi alongside newcomer Jedaiah Bannerman.

Here is our spoiler-free guide to all the filming locations of The Kitchen. You'll find the locations in order of appearance.

The Kitchen's market where Staples' gang brings the truck's food was filmed in a yard by the former London Electricity Board Headquarters in Bethnal Green, London.

Constructed in the 1950s, the building featuring a chequerboard patterning is today vacant.

The Kitchen London
The main section of The Kitchen neighbourhood is the Damiers complex (the Checkers) in La Défense, Paris.

The Kitchen house
Like The Kitchen, Les Damiers are due to be destroyed to make way for the Hermitage Plaza, a now stalled project to build two gigantic towers on the site.

The project has also been delayed by the resistance of the last inhabitants, who have refused to be evicted.

This establishing shot is a CGI composition combining the old London Electricity Board building on the right with the tallest of the four Les Damiers towers, in the centre.
