Where is The Couple Next Door filmed? Guide to all the locations

Posted by

Channel 4's new six-part thriller The Couple Next Door was filmed in Yorkshire, England, but also in Belgium and the Netherlands.

The story follows Evie and her boyfriend Pete as they move into a seemingly perfect new neighbourhood, populated by mysterious residents.

Eleanor Tomlinson and Alfred Enoch

The series is inspired by the novel Nieuwe buren (New Neighbours) by Dutch writer Saskia Noort, on which an earlier Dutch series was also based.

The cast features Eleanor Tomlinson as Evie and Alfred Enoch as her jealous boyfriend, Pete. Sam Heughanis is the traffic cop, Danny, who lives next door with his girlfriend and yoga instructor Becka, played by Jessica De Gouw.

Here is our spoiler-free guide to all the filming locations of The Couple Next Door. You'll find the locations in order of appearance.

The Couple Next Door locations

The Couple Next Door city
Much of the series was filmed in Blixembosch, a residential area in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

As the local press reported, the area is a beautiful neighbourhood filled with American-looking houses.

The Couple Next Door house
Becka and Danny's home is a magnificent six-bedroom house located at Buddy Boldenlaan 40 in this part of Eindhoven.

Boasting more than 3,700 square feet of living space, with plenty of room for the couple's special parties, this house has an estimated market value of over a million pounds.

Evie and Pete's new home
Evie and Pete's new home located across the street is a spacious house with a similar price tag.

The creepy neighbour, Alan (played by Hugh Dennis), is located a little further away, across the small park, at 37 Buddy Boldenlaan.

Fresley school
All the scenes at Evie's school were filmed at the Xaveriuscollege in Borgerhout, a secondary school in Antwerp, Belgium.

Leeds Civic Hall
There is a quick snippet with Pete running, filmed on Calverley Street in Leeds, by the Civic Hall.

Esholt in West Yorkshire
Evie's parent's town was filmed in Esholt in West Yorkshire.

This charming village is famous as the former filming location for the TV show Emmerdale, the soap opera set in the fictional village of the same name.

Brutalist-style block of flats
The Brutalist-style block of flats is the Arena-wijk in Deurne, Antwerp.

This housing estate was designed in 1960 by the architect Renaat Braem, who was a disciple of Le Corbusier in the 1930s.

Little Kids Full of Sin
According to one of our readers, the beach in the second episode, "Little Kids Full of Sin," might be the Meyendel dunes area in Wassenaar, between La Haia and Leiden.

Roger Stevens Building Leeds
The Yorkshire Police Station looks like the Roger Stevens Building on the University of Leeds campus.

This is a notable example of 1960s architecture, reflecting in particular the Brutalist style that was prevalent at the time.

Its modular construction and integration into the surrounding landscape make it a notable landmark on the campus, through its bold use of raw concrete, geometric forms, and minimalist design principles.

La Butte aux Bois spa
The countryside hideaway in the third episode, "Don't Stop," is the La Butte aux Bois (The hill in the forest) in Lanaken, Belgium.

The spa scene was also filmed at this exquisite five-star luxury hotel set amidst amid lush greenery, renowned for its elegant ambience and Michelin-starred cuisine.

Bar Papillon
This scene, earlier in the same episode, was filmed at the Bar Papillon, also located in the La Butte aux Bois complex.

Irish Times Pub in Antwerp
The bar in the fourth episode, "I Know It's a Secret," is the Irish Times Pub in Antwerp.

The showrunners couldn't show too much of the street and the surroundings of the pub, because if you open up the shot a little bit, you can see that you're not in the UK.

Centenary Bridge in Leed
In the fifth episode, "Inside You," there is a short scene with Pete on the Centenary Bridge in Leeds.

This structure spans the River Aire and connects the city centre with the South Bank.

Leeds iron Bridge
In the same episode after the restaurant scene, Evie walks across the Leeds Bridge, but in the opposite direction.

The 1870 iron Leeds Bridge is a testament to Victorian engineering, replacing its predecessor with a sturdy ironwork design.

Royal Northern Bank
The exterior of the fictional Royal Northern Bank was filmed in the old Yorkshire Bank Chambers building on Infirmary Street in Leeds.

This Grade II listed historical building is now an event venue called Aspire.

Museum of the National Bank of Belgium
However, the interior was filmed at the National Bank of Belgium Museum in Brussels.

This is an impressive example of 19th-century neoclassical architecture with a touch of Art Nouveau style.

Holbeck viaduct
After the bank scene, Danny swaps the van for the motorbike on Silver Street under the disused Holbeck viaduct in Leeds.

A cycle path could be built over this old railway viaduct, built in 1869 and closed in 1988.

Baildon Moor
In the sixth episode, "The Cottage," Danny and Becka stop at Baildon Moor, near the car park at the top of this hill.

The area is a popular spot for outdoor activities, with sweeping views of the surrounding countryside and valleys.

I believe the scene where Danny and Becka stop the car on the way to rescue Evie is on Baildon Moor (which is near Esholt).

In episode six, Danny and Becka stop on Baildon Moor on the road heading to Eldwick near the golf course and not far from Glen House pub.

What is the curved viaduct in episode one that Danny rides under on his motorbike when he gets a call about making a pick-up for the hospital? Thanks in advance.

I want to know the location of the street they lived in. I have never seen a location like this in the UK. It looks typically American.

I don't understand the need to film in a location that is clearly like the US when all the actors are British, very confusing for the viewer.

I'm pretty sure I recognised the location of the beach picnic as: Meyendel, 2242 PG Wassenaar, Netherlands, just north of the town of Scheveningen.

In the summer it has a few pop up beach bars, but out of season, it's no so busy. There's a huge car park next to it for the location equipment.

The Yorkshire Police Station was filmed at the University of Leeds campus, most likely the Roger Stevens building.

Lots of left-hand drive cars, too.
