Where was Secret Invasion filmed? Guide to all the Locations

Posted by

Although the series is largely set in Russia, Secret Invasion was primarily filmed in the United Kingdom.

The six-episode series revolves around Nick Fury (once again played by Samuel L. Jackson), who stumbles upon a nefarious plot orchestrated by a rogue faction of Skrulls, determined to take over Earth through strategic infiltration and manipulation.

Based on the popular Marvel comic book, the cast also includes Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke as G'iah, Kingsley Ben-Adir (Peaky Blinders, The OA) as rebel Skrull leader, Gravik, and Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline, The Outsider) as Fury's ally, Talos.

Welcome to our spoiler-free guide to all the filming locations of Secret Invasion. We will be updating and expanding this report every week as new locations are revealed.

Secret Invasion Locations

Secret Invasion city
The night scenes in present-day Moscow from the first episode, "Resurrection", were filmed at Dean Clough in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

Built in the mid-19th century, this complex was a group of Victorian carpet mills until production ceased in 1983.

Today, the area has been redeveloped as a shopping area and arts venue.

Located in Hertfordshire, you've seen this magnificent Jacobean-style country house in many other movies and shows including Bridgerton, Queen Charlotte, The Great, and Taboo.

Secret Invasion's New Skrullos city

New Skrullos
New Skrullos, located in the show 312 km southwest of Moscow, is actually the old Shredded Wheat Factory in Welwyn Garden City.

Built in 1926, this historic complex was home to the American biscuit company Nabisco, until it was closed in 2008.

As you can see, the cooling tower of the abandoned nuclear power plant and a chimney were added via CGI.

Vossoyedineniye Square
As the local press reported, Halifax's monumental Piece Hall doubled as Vossoyedineniye Square, with plenty of CGI thrown in.

The only surviving Georgian cloth hall in the world, it symbolizes the paramount role of the handwoven textile trade in the pre-industrial economy of Yorkshire's West Riding from the Middle Ages to the early 19th century.

Skrulls base
The room where the Skrulls experiment with a new weapon in the second episode, "Promises", looks like the Kelenföld Power Plant in Budapest, Hungary.

This location may be a set built at the studios, inspired by this impressive Art Deco space built between 1927 and 1929.

Kelenföld was abandoned in 2006, but today it has become a tourist attraction and part-time filming location.

"Located 312 km southwest of Moscow, New Skrullos is the old Shredded Wheat Factory in Welwyn Garden City" -- you might wanna fix that? You're out by over 2000km.

The outside of the house that Nick Fury and Talos travel to in episode 3 to confront 'Bob' is Stoke Court in Stoke Poges - not far from Pinewood Studios. It used to be a conference center and research laboratory for Bayer. It has since appeared in several productions including Killing Eve.

In episode two, the train that Nick Fury and Talos discussing is actually in Budapest (near the old train cemetery and Kelenföld train station).

The water tower in the background is quite famous.
