Where was Hocus Pocus 2 filmed? Guide to all the Filming Locations

Posted by

Almost 30 years later, Hocus Pocus 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to the original 1993 Halloween cult comedy.

Both movies are set in the New England coastal town of Salem, Massachusetts, although Hocus Pocus 2 was primarily filmed in several locations in Rhode Island.

Hocus Pocus filming locations

In the 90s film, the Sanderson sisters were resurrected by the Black Flame Candle, but this time the wicked trio is brought back to the present day under the full moon by teenagers Becca (played by Whitney Peak) and Izzy (Belissa Escobedo).

Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy reprise their roles as the Sanderson sisters.

Welcome to Salem and our spoiler-free guide to all the filming locations of Hocus Pocus 2.

Hocus Pocus 2 Locations

Hocus Pocus house
The production built the 1653 Salem set at the Chase Farm in Lincoln, located north of Providence.

The farm has a lot of history in its nearly 400 years of existence and a popular loop trail for hikers.

The little village (today's Salem Historic District) was built on a huge grassy field of the farm by dozens of carpenters in September 2021.

Some buildings from the set were actually burned for a scene featured in the movie.

The Hocus Pocus High School

Samuel Skelton High School
The Moses Brown School served as the fictional Samuel Skelton High School in Providence.

However, as the local press reported, the scenes taking place in the interior halls of the school were recorded at La Salle Academy, also in Providence.

Salem Scare Fest
Salem's main street, where the 27th annual Salem Scare Fest takes place, was filmed on Washington Square and Eisenhower Park in Newport.

Built in 1741, the elegant clock building in the background of many scenes is the historic Old Colony House, one of the oldest surviving Georgian public buildings in the United States.

Olde Salem Magic Shoppe
If you travel to the locations where Hocus Pocus 2 was filmed, you won't find the Olde Salem Magic Shoppe (formerly the Sanderson cottage).

The house where the book of spells is kept was built in an empty lot on Touro Street, also in Downtown Newport.

The interior was filmed on a studio soundstage, the same location where a house from The Gilded Age series was filmed.
