The Fate the Winx Saga School House and ALL the Filming Locations: Where was Fate filmed?

Posted by

The Killruddery House in Ireland served as the perfect backdrop for Fate: The Winx Saga. The Alfea magical boarding school in the Otherworld is not far away from the location where the Vikings series was filmed in County Wicklow.

The Netflix 6-episode is based on Winx Club, a 2000s Italian-American animated series, set in a magical world inhabited by fairies, witches, and other mythical creatures.

The Winx Saga Location

The Winx universe has already expanded with several graphic novels and books about the characters' lives.

The story, where Harry Potter meets Pretty Little Liars, revolves around Bloom and a group of teen fairies determined to master their supernatural powers, tied to the elements.

Abigail Cowen plays Bloom, a fire fairy raised on Earth by human parents. Hannah van der Westhuysen is the light fairy Stella. The main cast also includes Precious Mustapha as Aisha (water), Eliot Salt as Terra Harvey (earth), and Elisha Applebaum as Musa (mind).

The Fate: the Winx Saga School Location

Bloom's parents believe that she is studying in Switzerland instead of Solaria, where Alfea is located. The Alfea School of Magic is actually the Killruddery House, one of the greatest mansions in Ireland.

This superb 17th-century country manor is situated on the outskirts of Bray, south of Dublin. As you can see in this screenshot compared to the real property pictured on the bottom, the great hall of the school was CGI'd to the house.

The Killruddery House also boasts a magnificent glasshouse called the Orangery, which in the series appears as the plant's laboratory.

The Orangery, designed and built by William Burns in 1852, is inspired by the Crystal Palace in London. Built in 1618, this 800-acre estate contains a lot of history and hosts one of Ireland’s most renowned gardens, including the round pond (the Beech Circle) featured in the show.

A lot of productions have been filmed here, including Far and Away (1992), Angela’s Ashes (1999), The Tudors (2007), and the 2020 film The Turning. The mansion may be very familiar to you if you watched AMC's post-apocalyptic Kung Fu western Into the Badlands: The legendary Widow's Sanctuary was all set here.

Stone Circle and Waterfall
The fall is the famous Powerscourt Waterfall, part of the Powerscourt Estate.

This popular landmark and tourist attraction features beautiful gardens and a gorgeous mansion located near Enniskerry (County Wicklow). The Stonehenge-esque Stone Circle is just a set built nearby the waterfall.

The central courtyard of the school, the meeting place of all the characters in the show, is a set built on a sound stage. The series was recorded at Ardmore Studios in Bray and Ashford Studios in Ballyhenry.

Aster Dell
But, where is located the rocky coast near the burned town of Aster Dell?

Someone commented that this is the southern side of Bray Head, a hill and headland situated between the towns of Bray and Greystones in northern County Wicklow.
