Set in the fictional town of Hollowfell, located somewhere in the rural north-west of England, Girl Taken was entirely filmed in the Basque Country, Spain.
Although it may seem an unusual choice, the Paramount series was filmed in Euskadi for its versatile locations, attractive tax incentives, experienced crews, and cost-effective production support.

Girl Taken locations
The misty lake featured in the series was filmed in the Albina Reservoir area, a man-made lake in Álava province.
Surrounded by forests and wetlands, it forms part of the Gorbeia Natural Park.
The establishing shot of the abandoned mill was filmed at Fundición Ajuria y Urigoitia in Araia, a historic iron foundry founded in the 19th century and part of Álava’s rich industrial heritage.

The Hollowfell Service Station, where Wes works, is a petrol station in Virgala on the A-132 road linking Vitoria-Gasteiz and Estella.
This spot has already served as a filming location for local productions.

Teacher Rick Hansen, played by Alfie Allen, lives in a modern house in Legutio, a small town located about 12 miles north-east of Vitoria-Gasteiz.
The six-bedroom villa, near the Ullíbarri-Gamboa Reservoir, has an estimated market price of around £750,000.

This scene with Delphi (Abby Riser) and Wes (Levi Brown) in the third episode was filmed in a suburb of Vitoria-Gasteiz.
A graffiti behind the actors reads “Patxi”, a very distinctive and unique name from Euskadi.
