Set in the fictional town of Waterside in Yorkshire, After the Flood was filmed in and around Manchester and the Peak District.

Now back for a second season, the series picks up one year after the events of the first season, following Detective Joanna “Jo” Marshall (Sophie Rundle) as she leads a new murder investigation.

After the Flood locations

The Aexous plant is the chemical works complex near Anderton, just north of Northwich in Cheshire.
The historic chemical manufacturing facilities on the banks of the River Weaver were established in the 1870s.

The lake in the first episode was filmed at Jackdaw Quarry, a disused limestone quarry near Carnforth in north Lancashire.
It has since flooded and been redeveloped as a recreational water site.

Molly’s house exterior was filmed on Old Cross Street in Old Glossop.
In a shot in the fourth episode, Glossop Parish Church appears in the background.

The Waterside town in After the Flood

The scenes in Waterside were filmed on George Street and High Street in the centre of Glossop, Derbyshire.
Located at the western edge of the Peak District National Park, about 15 miles east of Manchester, Glossop is a town historically associated with the textile industry.

This scene from the second episode was also filmed in Glossop, outside the Friendship Inn pub on Arundel Street.

The Waterside Police Station exterior was filmed in a former NatWest bank branch in Glossop, behind the Partington Theatre on Norfolk Square.
According to Executive Producer Nicola Shindler, the interior scenes were filmed at Brotherton House, a former Barclays Bank data centre in Wythenshawe.
The hospital scenes and the interiors of Molly’s house were also recreated there, in Wythenshawe.

The moors and the Crossdale Estate lands were filmed in multiple locations, in an area in Wardle between Piethorne Reservoir and Watergrove Reservoir in north-east Rochdale.

Bornegate Farm is a red-brick range of buildings, set within a courtyard-style property located outside Altrincham, about 9 miles south-west of Manchester city centre.

The North Waterside Community Hall in the second episode is the Wythenshawe Offices, a large NHS facility.

The After the Flood house

Alan Benson’s estate is a large traditional manor house in Clitheroe, Lancashire.
Featuring wooden-panelled hallways and an elegant staircase, the house is available to rent as a filming location.

The Waterside Ewell Hotel is the Oddfellows on The Park, a boutique hotel, restaurant, and bar set in a Victorian mansion overlooking Bruntwood Park in Cheadle.
Built in the mid-19th century, the building retains many of its period features, with rooms typically starting at around £195 per night.

Tallow Bar & Grill in the fourth episode is a steak restaurant on Norfolk Street in Glossop.

The pub in the fifth episode is The Two Tubs in Bury, located about 8 miles north of Manchester city centre.

The scene with Saskia and Pat in the park was filmed across the street from the pub, in the Church of St Mary the Virgin gardens in Bury.

Chadderton District Town Hall served as Waterside Town Hall.
Built at the beginning of the 20th century, this English Renaissance–inspired building features a hall with stained glass, as seen in the series.

A key scene was filmed at the Alderley Edge National Trust location.
This scenic red sandstone escarpment offers panoramic views across the plain towards the Peak District and the surrounding Cheshire countryside.
