Back for its second season, featuring the fictional Wheeler College, A Man on the Inside was filmed in and around San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Blending comedy and mystery, the show stars Ted Danson as Charles Nieuwendyk, a retired professor who, in the first season, went undercover in a retirement home to investigate a theft.

The A Man On The Inside locations
The first episode of the second season, "Orientation," opens with a scene filmed at The Edmon, a stylish speakeasy inside the Hollywood Historic Hotel.
Located on Melrose Avenue, close to major Hollywood landmarks, the hotel is known for its vintage charm and restored Art Deco details.
The Wheeler College
The Wheeler College scenes were mostly filmed at the California Institute of Technology, also known as Caltech, in Pasadena.
In the series, Horford Hall is actually the Parsons-Gates Hall of Administration.

Charles’s office, the Pritchard Science Building in the series, is actually Dabney Hall.
Established in 1891, Caltech is a world-leading science and engineering institute, with a campus featuring beautiful Mission Revival, Romanesque, and modernist architecture.
However, the aerial establishing shots are from Mills College and the Northeastern University Oakland campus.
Founded in 1852 the campus blends historic buildings in Mission Revival and Beaux‑Arts styles with modern facilities.
The A Man On The Inside Pacific View
The first season was centred around the Pacific View retirement community, filmed at the Cathedral Apartments building in Nob Hill, San Francisco.
Built in 1927, this historic pre-war building features an Art Deco and Gothic-inspired style, with a grand lobby, ornate detailing, and spectacular panoramic city views.

Charles’ modern house is a mid‑century post‑and‑beam single-family home in Eagle Rock.
Built in 1960, this three-bedroom house preserves unique architectural details and remains largely in its original, unaltered condition.
Sitting near greenbelt areas, its estimated current market value is about $3 million.

The exterior of Kovalenko Investigations’ office is a red-brick building located at 374 The Embarcadero, along San Francisco’s reclaimed waterfront boulevard that stretches the length of the bay.

El Metate Restaurant in the third episode, "Family Weekend," is located in San Francisco’s Mission District, although its interior was filmed elsewhere.

The Vinick Capital Headquarters was not filmed in the San Francisco area, but in downtown Los Angeles.
The U.S. Bank Tower is a landmark skyscraper completed in 1989.
Standing 1,018 feet tall, it was the tallest building west of the Mississippi for decades.

The Wheeler Alumni Event in the seventh episode, "Group Project," was not filmed at Caltech, but at the Ebell of Los Angeles in the Mid-Wilshire district.
This historic women’s club, designed in Italian Renaissance Revival style and featuring grand halls, also recently appeared as a filming location in The Studio series.

Pritchard Science Building at UC Davis appears in one of the middle episodes. The name is carved above the door through which the characters exit.

I think the faculty party takes place at the Tam O'Shanter.

The Irish bar in S2E6 was Tom Bergin's, located at 840 S Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90036. Interiors and exteriors both appear to have been shot there.
S2E8, the final scene between Charles and Mona is implied to be taking place at the Buena Vista, a bar in San Francisco. However, the location appears to be shot on location at Tom Bergin's.

I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley, and some of the college scenes looked like they were at Claremont College.
