Set in a fictional city called Umberland, located in an invented state, Orrington, Smoke was filmed primarily in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Inspired by the true-crime podcast Firebug, the show is somewhat like Mindhunter, but focuses on arsonists instead of serial killers.

The city of Umberland in Smoke

The Coop's Fried Chicken fast food restaurant was filmed at the old Pizza Hut from the 1960s–70s era, long closed, on Hastings Street in Burnaby.
With its distinctive trapezoidal windows, this former full-service restaurant has occasionally been used as a filming location for other productions.

The exterior of the Craft and Cube store was filmed at the site of a CIBC bank branch in Surrey City Centre.
Walsingham, Gelford... The series hasn't just created a new state—Orrington (OT)—but also features many fictional towns and locations throughout Smoke.

The scene with Dave (played by Taron Egerton) and Michell (Jurnee Smollett) driving around Umberland was filmed on Hastings Street in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

The Heatley pub at 696 East Hastings Street in Vancouver’s Strathcona neighbourhood doubles as the Belveris bar.
This retro-style bar and eatery features vintage décor, stained-glass windows, and regularly hosts live music.

Vancouver Fire Hall No. 14, located in the Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood, served as Firehall Number 3 in the series.
This is one of the 20 active fire halls operated by Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services, serving East Vancouver

The hair salon is located between the fictional Umberland Bank and Fajita Express, on Hastings Street, situated in the northeast corner of Vancouver.

The supermarket at the end of the second episode, "Your Happy Makes Me Sad", is the Bosa Foods on Kootenay Street, Vancouver, a family-owned Italian specialty grocer.

The BMW scene in the third episode, "Weird Milk", was filmed at a house on Yale Street in Vancouver’s Hastings-Sunrise, a neighbourhood known for its mix of charming heritage homes and sweeping views of the Burrard Inlet and North Shore Mountains.

Paragon Park, in the sixth episode, "Manhood", is actually Playland Amusement Park, located at Hastings Park and part of the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE).
Opened at its current location in 1958, it houses over 35 rides, including the historic Wooden Roller Coaster, and is considered British Columbia’s most iconic amusement park.
