Based on the 2017 book of the same name by Robinne Lee, The Idea of You was filmed primarily in Georgia.

The story revolves around Solène Marchand, a 40-year-old divorced mother played by Anne Hathaway, who embarks on a whirlwind romance with Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), a charismatic pop star almost half her age.

The Idea of You locations
Solène lives in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, home to numerous art galleries, theaters, and music venues, and known for its hipster vibe.
The movie opens with several establishing shots of the area, including Sunset Junction and the scenic Silver Lake Reservoir, a former source of drinking water for Los Angeles that has become an important community landmark.
The Idea of You house
However, Solène's house was filmed in the Virginia Highland neighborhood of Atlanta.
Built in 1920, according to Realtor, this three-bedroom and three-bathroom Craftsman-style home has an estimated value of almost one and a half million dollars.

Production designer Amy Williams told to Housebeautiful.com that they found the house listed on Airbnb.
The crew spent two months renovating the interior and adapting it to Solène's style.
The Coachella Festival sequence was filmed on the grounds of the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia, in cooperation with the organizers of the Imagine Music Festival.
The famous Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is held in April in California's Colorado Desert.

The Marchand Collective gallery is actually The Studio at Candler Park in Atlanta, the art studio of abstract painter Shannon Coppage.
This beautiful 100-year-old bungalow can be rented for photo shoots or private events.

The fictional Camp Kohut West is actually the Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, GA.
The camp specializes in providing outdoor recreational experiences for children with serious illnesses, disabilities, and other life challenges.

The August Moon band music video was filmed at The Wimbish House in Atlanta.
This historic venue boasts elegant 1920's Renaissance Revival architecture.
Originally built as a home, it is now a location for weddings, corporate events, and other special occasions, offering timeless charm and grandeur in its ornate interiors and spacious rooms.

The hotel in New York with a stunning chandelier in its lobby is The Candler Hotel Atlanta.
Originally built by Coca-Cola magnate Asa Candler in 1906, the hotel underwent extensive renovations and reopened in 2019.
A one-bedroom king suite with city views, like the one featured in the film, can be booked for nearly $800 per night.

When the couple travels to Paris, it appears stock footage of the Café Le Dôme, located near the Champ de Mars and the Eiffel Tower.
However, the interior was filmed elsewhere.

Although not shown in the movie, this scene was filmed on Savannah's waterfront, with the JW Marriott Hotel in the background.
It looks like the scene in a rainy, dark alley was also filmed here in the Riverside District.

The spectacular house that Hayes and Ollie rented in the south of France is actually located in Atlanta.
Designed by Charlotte Lucas, the 2,000-square-foot pool house with red and white umbrellas was inspired by the luxury resorts of the French Riviera.
This scene pictured was filmed at Sunset Junction, the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake.

One of the final scenes was recorded at The Graham Norton Show, a real British talk show airing on BBC One.
Since its premiere in February 2007, the show has become renowned for its mix of celebrity interviews, comedic banter, and entertaining segments.
