Where was The Killer filmed? The Waterfront and all the locations

Based on a French comic book, The Killer was filmed in Chicago, New Orleans, Paris, and the Dominican Republic.

Fight Club and Seven director David Fincher returns to his roots with this story of a ruthless assassin who, after a failed job, seeks revenge on his employers.

Michael Fassbender as The Killer

The cast is led by Michael Fassbender as the unnamed professional hitman. Tilda Swinton also appears in a key scene as a fellow expert assassin.

The Killer locations

The Killer Paris
In Paris, the sniper waits for his target to arrive in a hotel room in a building overlooking the iconic Panthéon dome.

The square around which all this sequence takes place is the Place de l'Estrapade in the Latin Quarter.

Restaurant Le Petit Raphaël
In the real world, the hotel is just a residential apartment building.

But the building on the left, where the fictional restaurant Le Petit Raphaël is located, is the same house where Emily in Paris lives!

The killer restaurant
The Killer also features Gabriel's restaurant from the hit Netflix series, the Italian bistro called Terra Nera in real life.

Passerelle des Ardennes
Taking some risky shortcuts, the killer evades the police by driving his rented moped through the streets of Paris to a pedestrian bridge called the Passerelle des Ardennes.

This location is near La Villette Park in the north of Paris, almost 5 miles (8 km) from the hotel.

Hyatt Regency New Orleans hotel
The first airport sequence was shot in one of the terminals at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport.

There is an establishing shot using the Hyatt Regency New Orleans Hotel, located near the Superdome (pictured), as the Dominican Republic airport.

The assassin lands at the Santo Domingo/Las Américas International Airport.

Ciudad Colonial Santo Domingo's old town
Some of the scenes with the jeep crossing the city were filmed in Parque San Miguel and José Reyes Street in Santo Domingo's old town area, Ciudad Colonial.

The aerial shots of the road with palm trees are from Las Terrenas and the road from Nagua to Cabrera.

Casa las Olas Dominican Republic
It is not clearly shown in its full glory in the film, but the house is a spectacular seaside getaway designed to accommodate large groups of family and friends.

Known as Casa las Olas, this 20,000-square-foot luxury retreat house sits on a lush 4.5-acre compound on Playa Grande in Rio San Juan.

Designed by New York architecture firm Young Projects, its undulating architecture is intended to blend subtly with the surrounding landscape.

La Isabela International Airport
The airport where the killer is looking for the green taxi company is the small La Isabela International Airport, also located in Santo Domingo.

Columbus Park Ciudad Colonial
The spot where Leo, the taxi driver, waits for customers is Columbus Park (Parque Colón), also in Ciudad Colonial.

This is the heart of Santo Domingo's historic center, with the 16th century Cathedral of Santa María la Menor on the left side of the picture.

Los Guaricanos Santo Domingo
According to local media, a sequence was filmed in the Guaricanos neighborhood, which has turned out to be the scene that takes place underneath the bridge.

Jeanfreau's Ace Hardware
After landing in Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, the hitman prepares his revenge on Hodges, the lawyer (played by Charles Parnell).

The Jeanfreau's Ace Hardware is the real hardware store in Belle Chasse, on the outskirts of New Orleans.

Hodges The Lawyer building
The lawyer's office building is located at Carondelet and Gravier Streets in downtown New Orleans.

The filmmakers used an empty clothing store next to the Hampton Inn hotel as the entrance to the office.

Lower Algiers/Chalmette Ferry New Orleans
Listening to The Smiths, our man crosses the Mississippi River on the Lower Algiers/Chalmette Ferry.

West Pearl River bridge
The killer removes some pieces of the puzzle near the West Pearl River Bridge on U.S. 90.

Built in the 1930s, the historic bridge has been closed since May 2022 due to significant deterioration found during a routine inspection.

The New York The Killer scenes were actually filmed in Chicago

The Killer New York
Chicago Union Station doubles as New York's Grand Central Terminal.

Both Chicago Union Station and Grand Central Terminal are monumental Beaux-Arts style train stations renowned for their architectural grandeur.

The Killer Chicago
The traffic light scene was filmed at North Riverside Avenue and East Main Street in St. Charles, Illinois.

Located in Kane County, about 40 miles west of Chicago, this small city is known for its historic downtown.

The Waterfront Restaurant in The Killer

The Waterfront Restaurant
The Waterfront Restaurant is located around the corner, after crossing the scenic Fox River.

This is actually the elegant ballroom of the Hotel Baker, a three-star hotel established in 1928.

The scene with The Expert outside the restaurant was also filmed here, in the gardens of the hotel.

Hyde Park–Kenwood National Bank Building
The Hyde Park–Kenwood National Bank Building lobby at 1525 East 53rd Street in Chicago served as the 'sayonara' bank.

Completed in 1929, the stunning banking hall has survived largely untouched until its restoration began in 2004.

Baliquinox Club
The fictional Baliquinox Club was filmed at the Midtown Athletic Club, the gym located in The Hotel at Midtown on Chicago's North Elston Avenue.
