Where was Jingle Jangle filmed? Cobbleton, the house, and all the locations
Posted by Ra Moon
Set in the fictional town of Cobbleton during a pseudo-Victorian, mechanical steampunk era, Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey was filmed primarily in Norwich and London.

This musical fantasy film revolves around a disgraced inventor, Jeronicus Jangle (played by Forest Whitaker and Justin Cornwell), and his talented granddaughter, Journey (Madalen Mills).
If Beth from The Queen's Gambit could visualise an imaginary chessboard with moving pieces on the ceiling of her room, Journey is likewise a child prodigy who can draw complex equations in the air.

The 'emporium of imagination' toymaker shop, Jangles and Things, and Gustafson's factory were elaborate sets built at Arborfield Studios in Wokingham, Berkshire, just 37 miles west of London.

The filmmakers found the ideal street to shoot some key scenes in Norwich, the unofficial East Anglia's capital.
Located in the heart of the city, Elm Hill is a historic cobbled lane filled with Tudor period houses.

The film crew dressed exteriors of store windows to transform this quiet alley into Cobbleton's busy main street.
The battle of snowballs was filmed during the summer using local extras (the lack of snow is pretty obvious). This street was also featured in the 2007 film starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert De Niro, Ricky Gervais, and Peter O'Toole Stardust

Elm Hill was saved from destruction in the 1920s when the Norwich Society convinced local authorities to buy and preserve the area.
At that time, the city of Norwich which, had been England's second largest city before the industrial revolution was in decline, and Elm Hill had degenerated into a slum town.
Today, most of the houses still belong to the City Council.

In the real world, Jessica's Nesbitt Cottage (Anika Noni Rose) is called Beech Cottage, and as Findthatlocation.com reported, it's located in the small hamlet of Nether Winchendon near Aylesbury (Buckinghamshire).
The timber-framed structure is a private house owned by an architect, featuring a traditional thatched roof.
The location was only used for the scene when Journey is waiting for the Woodsminster Omnibus to Cobbleton.

Our favorite character is Gustafson (Keegan-Michael Key). He may be driven by greed and thirst for power, but we can't deny his excellent taste erecting a gorgeous art-nouveau factory with a roller-coaster ventilation system that has nothing to envy the Temple of Doom.

This is because some parts of Gustafson's lair were filmed at the magnificent Crossness Pumping Station in East London, a Victorian-era sewage pumping station built in the 1860s.
Transformed today into a heritage site and museum, its elaborate ornamental ironwork and massive beam engines were originally used to pump sewage away from the city.
The Master of Magnificence lived life in style until the party was over. Ricky Martin voiced his matador companion, Don Juan Diego.
