Money Heist (La casa de papel, or the paper house in the original Spanish title), is Netflix's most watched non-English series. Breaking the language barrier, the show recorded millions of views all around the world, surpassing the streaming service's other hit productions.

The original series was aired in the Spanish television channel Antena 3. Netflix reedited the format of the episodes and released it worldwide in 2017. The first two seasons are focused in the assault on the Royal Mint of Spain, by a gang planning to print and escape with €2.4 billion. The cast is lead by Álvaro Morte as the Professor Salva, Úrsula Corberó as Tokyo, Itziar Ituño as Raquel, the inspector of the National Police Corps, Miguel Herrán as Rio, Jaime Lorente as Denver, Alba Flores as Nairobi, Pedro Alonso as Berlin and Najwa Nimri as Alicia, the new police inspector in season 3.

Money Heist was filmed mainly in Madrid and surroundings, in Spain. The third season also included locations in Panama, Thailand and Italy. Here are some of the most relevant filming locations of the Neflix hit show:

The exteriors of the Royal Mint of Spain (Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre), were filmed in the Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, CSIC) at 117 Serrano St. The real Royal Mint building stands in the midst of a densely populated area of Madrid. Due to its worldwide popularity, it comes as no surprise that it keeps crawling with visitors, though they can hardly get clearance for entry. Darren Barden a writing coach at write my paper service says that the reasons for the barriers to entry are clear; the place is used for producing banknotes and stamps and, therefore, should maintain privacy.

The interiors were filmed in a soundstage in Colmenar Viejo. The scene of the shooting in the roof was filmed in the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Aeronáuticos, (Technical University of Madrid) at 3 Cardenal Cisneros square. Image courtesy of Netflix - Map

The workshops where the money is made are actually the premises of a newspaper printing site named ABC in Torrejón de Ardoz. The main reason for choosing this location was the availability of printing machines and equipment. If you have plans to visit the site, you may feel disappointed upon learning that you can hardly get permission for entry unless you are a client (that most probably isn’t the case). The house with a pitched roof used for creating the plans for robbery in the series is the EL Gasco estate in Torrelodones. In the show it is called the Toledo house. This historical manor is located in the Regional Park of the middle course of the Guadarrama River, in the outskirts of Madrid. The scrapyard scene revolving around the 1992' Seat Ibiza, was shot at Desguaces El Choque, in San Martín de la Vega (a town south of Madrid).

Here are located world-famous departmental stores, the Callao Cinemas and gigantic screens like in London's Trafalgar Square. Also very close from there is located Alcala street, Cibeles square and the statue of the Minerva Goddess (pictured), overlooking the city at the top of the Círculo de Bellas Artes building.
