Filming Locations Guide: Where is Liar filmed?

Posted by

The ITV series Liar is back for season 2. The show tells the story of schoolteacher Laura, accusing surgeon Andrew of rape, as she can't remember what happened the night after they had a romantic date.

Where was Liar filmed

Joanne Froggatt (from Downton Abbey) and Ioan Gruffudd (Fantastic Four, Titanic) lead the cast of this controversial thriller produced by the same director of the hit series Broadchurch, James Strong.

Liar was filmed around London and Deal, in Kent. Here is our spoiler-free filming locations report of the series, including season 2:

Where was Liar filmed?

Liar Location
Everything starts with stunning aerial views of the saltmarshes at Blackwater Estuary near Tollesbury (Essex), resembling from the sky the patterns of a human brain.

This unique landscape is a nature reserve located where the Blackwater River meets the sea between Maldon and West Mersea.

Liar Marshes
Laura is kayaking near Tollesbury, on the Essex coast. Pictured, the boatyard owned by Carl Peterson (Howard Charles), also featured in season 2.

The yacht harbour where the boat is moored is also here, in Tollesbury Marina.

These marshes are a bit similar to the ones featured in the Netflix series Outer Banks, set in Kildare Island.
