The eighth installment of the Fast & Furious saga continues the tradition of traveling to exotic locations. F8 also comes packed with a collection of celebrities including Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron, Jason Statham, and Kurt Russell.

The Fate of the Furious was filmed in Cuba, Iceland, and in United States. This is one of the first big Hollywood productions to shot in the revolutionary Caribbean island, thanks to the fact that the embargo was partially lifted.

Where was Fast and Furious 8 filmed?

The Fate of the Furious filming locations
In Cuba, The Fast and the Furious 8 was filmed right in the heart of Havana. The race started in Simón Bolívar Street, in a corner of El Curita Park.

Fast 8 is one of the first North American productions to film again the Caribbean island, since the start of the Cuban Revolution in 1953.

Also, in 2016, the Netflix series The OA filmed an episode in La Havana.

The car chase passed by the iconic Capitolio and continued through several central avenues, including the legendary Malecón located parallel to the sea.

The historic Hotel Nacional De Cuba also served as the background for a key scene.

The Fate of the Furious locations
In Iceland, the frozen waters of Lake Mývatn served as the setting for a spectacular car (and submarine) chase scene. This section of the movie is set in the Russian Arctic.

The film crew swept clean a very large portion of the lake for the shoot.

Where was The Fate of the Furious filmed
The prison outdoor scenes were filmed in the harbor of Akranes, a town about 30 miles north of Reykjavík.

The Berlin set
The next filming locations are situated in the USA. The Berlin set was actually built at the Guardian Centers in Perry, Georgia.

This is a unique training facility for 'disaster preparedness', a large complex made to simulate almost any disaster on almost any scale.

The cars warehouse by the river in NYC
In New York, the scene where all the vehicles are coming out of a warehouse was filmed at Pier 40 by the Hudson River.

Vehicles drove right through center of Broadway, including the 5th Avenue and the Manhattan Bridge.

The car chase scene
However, a lot of filming took place in Cleveland, Ohio, doubling as NYC. The stunt pictured was recorded at the junction of Superior Avenue and E. 6th street.

The production was also filming at Park Plaza and several additional streets in downtown.

The building from where the cars fall into the street is the Halle Bros Parking Garage at 1118 Prospect Ave E (also in Cleveland). The rest of the street was made with plenty of CGI thrown in.
